Gallup is still using a registered voter screen and a dem +3 sample (IIRC), but 47% for the incumbent at this stage in the election cycle is terrible.

This is obviously due to the news that Mitt funded 1/2 of the Milk budget, for a short time over 18 years ago.

I'll be more interested in the polling later this week, when it includes Mitt's views when talking to his wealthy donors. Lets see how Friday looks, shall we?

last time I checked, 47% was a larger # than 46%, I'll have to check with the math department though.....

Lets see what was Romney saying back in April or May?

47% of the people aren't going to vote for him anyway.

The polls help romney look good but it's just window dressing ... he needs all of the leaning Romney states and most of the tweener states to pull a victory.

RealClear has it ... 237 Obama vs 191 Romney

He needs 79/110 of the votes below to reach 272.
31 lost from below loses it for him.

    Colorado (9)
    Florida (29)
    Iowa (6)
    Nevada (6)
    New Hampshire (4)
    North Carolina (15)
    Ohio (18)
    Virginia (13)
    Wisconsin (10)

This campaign is John Kerry GOP style ... a train wreck.
Do these people not pay attention to history and attempt to learn anything from the mistakes of others?

I really think that many people do not understand this, thus the glee and fascination with raw polls..

If Obama loses the vote, but wins the electoral college then there will be how unfair this whole process is.. or how he cheated.

    Here Here Icy! Nice post.

It is a train wreck, although, honestly not sure what that means for the final numbers.

I do know (rather think) the following. Obama has disillusioned many of the voters who voted for him last time; obviously not Team Either Or FTW types, but Independent voters which is where this election will be won (obviously)

There was actually a point in time where I thought the Rs, as long as than ran out a semi decent candidate, would probably win by default.

But my goodness has this process been unkind to Mitt. All he had to do was keep his mouth shut and with the world burning around us, would have been seen as a positive....he just didnt have it in him I guess.

Now having said that, I do think all these videos are being released for political gain, and at a time when the focus should be on Obama's words and actions as the leader of the free world (you know the person, who this minute, can actually do something more the vote pandering?), we are instead focusing on a person who could be something....national ADD etc etc.

    Politics......its a stinky cologne.

This is the latest Karl rove trend line ... he's very good IMO.
he shows the undecideds trending downward and Obama trending up at a better clip than Romney. Romney needs the debates like yesterday and he needs to slam dunk them. I would think the Middle East is hurting Obama but I guess i am wrong thinking that because the graph does not show it.

    D-sizzle,

to be clear, these videos came out a few months ago. It wasn't until recently that they were confirmed to be Romney.

    I prefer D-Money :)

    hahahahahahahahaha

Right....the point remains though don't it?

Again, as I said in one of the other threads, I'm not defending what Romney said, he can do that.

But it is curious to me that these were sitting around for 4 months......and only confirmed now.

Where's the talk of $4 gas, QE3, a record 8+ million on disability, $16+ trillion in national debt, as well as hundreds of thousands dropping from the workforce, and what each candidate plans to do about it? There is none. It's absolutely incredible how little the issues have been discussed, at a time when the country is in complete shambles both at home, and abroad.

    D-moNAY.....moNAY!

    (can you name the movie?)

If they ever release the name of the leaker, we will have more answers to our questions. But for now we can assume safely that the person is motivated by politics, and a donor of Romney at one point.

Those sound like about 47% of the issues I have no control over, so I don't worry about them, ya know?

If you don't pay taxes those wouldn't concern you. I'm one of the 53% that does, and would like to know what the candidates are going to do about those issues, and others. See, I understand that at our current pace, we're going broke fast. Personally I don't see a course where we'll avoid an outright fiscal implosion of a collosal kind, but I'd still like to at least see it publically debated. Instead they talk Snookie and Jay-Z.

I guess SOMEONE can't see humor...

Yeah, I pay taxes, and I'll vote for Obama. I guess that makes the percentage that Mitt doesn't care about 47% + 1 vote. I'm pretty sure that most others who will vote for the President ALSO Pay taxes.

Calling yourself "one of the 53% that does (pay taxes)" Is a rediculous claim. Its a manufactured # to fit a narrative that is false. We've gone over this in serveral threads in the past, and choosing to ignore the fact that it is wrong, means one accepts being lied to.

According to the rediculous claim that ONLY 53% of americans pay taxes, our combat troops have no right to be as american as you. Thats fukced up.

Its also ballsy for a guy who only paid 13% in taxes to even bring up this $#!t.

Everyone pays taxes ... some more than others. when you purchase stuff some of that is taxes. then there's gasoline taxes and cigarette and booze taxes and all kinds of taxes. because everyone is a consumer I still think we should slowly phase in consumption taxes. that includes everything which would mean yes - the rich would pay more because they consume more. But ... I need to stay on topic lest I 'off topic post' myself.

We're talking income taxes Holy. If you want to talk ALL taxes, then sure the number is different. There's state tax, sales tax, tanning tax, tabacco tax, local tax, property tax, etc. I know there are other taxes since I pay virtually all of them. Federal income tax is a sizable chunk of the fed revenue pie, and nearly half the country doesn't have a stake in it. Don't you see the problem here? If the budget were balanced, and there no debt, this wouldn't be an issue. We're broke though, and government spending and debt is increasing rapidly. When they come looking for money it's my wallet they'll be taking money from.

    Are you a 99%'er Holy? ;)

Of those 18%.....some are pretty well off....

Sad too because I thought Romney would win the state by simply knowing how high the trees are there, and should always be. Voters tend to flock to candidates who can discuss things such as tree height.

What exactly IS his home state anyway? Michigan? Massachussets? Utah? Mexico?

    he's losing 3 of those 4 already.
