As a supporter of Obama, and all that...I've gotta say, I'm not pumped up about a lot of whats going on here....Granted, his best mark is that he isn't Bush.

If you asked me in a poll, if I supporetd Obama....It would really depend on how it was worded, and what was the issue we are talking about.

    War? NO
    Stimulus? YES
Healthcare? NO (dude needs to step it up)
    Restoring our Int'l Rep? YES
    Transparency? NO

Again, he hasn't done anything to drasticly pi$$ me off, but at the same time, he isn't moving in the direction I'd like to see. So I'd say I'm not pumped up about much of anything.

Having said that...I do think he weighs his decisions, and gives them thought. I do belive him to be a smart human capable of making good decisions. Which is many levels above the former POTUS, who cliamed to talk with God and answer to a higher father etc...

Polls shcmoles.....Cheney was barely out of the teens as far as approval. And when he was told that 70% of Americans wanted us out of Iraq, he laughed and said he didn't listen to polls...

Theres a noticeable difference between the Con. Rt and the LT. When Bush was in office he could do no wrong according to the RT. they wouldn't utter a bad word about what ever he chose to do. Thats not the same for the Lt.

    I agree with this 100%...

Any sort of questioning of Bush was met with fingers pointing back and angry tongues lashing "UNAMERICAN!"

We elect a black guy and next thing you know....old white men who claim to fart red white and blue no matter what...ALL OF THE SUDDEN see a conspiracy!

    Anyway....

There is nothing more American than questioning authority, and sticking it to the man. There is nothing more Rock, nothing more hip-hop, nothing more free press, nothing more blue jeans, nothing more constitution that that.

I don't support Obama simply because he is a democrat. Sometimes I don't support him at all.

Don't you live in Oakland? They know where to target to get an "accurate" representation of the country's feelings, which leaves hard core left and right population centers off limits for the phone banks...you won't get called just as someone living in Tulsa won't get called.

I think Obama was the countries best chance to see a President that really was independent of the string pullers ... I guess not and there's nobody in the waiting line who is.

Even more so to the point, you live in the die hard Democrat territory...you would only get a call for a state or local poll rather than a national poll.

That may have been the sentiment if he won the nomination outright but what he and his people had to make deals with to just get the nomination put strings on him...

This is factually wrong. Many here and many not here any longer supported Bush on foreign policy and lowering taxes by excoriated him for spending too much, and expanding entitlements.

Perhaps you blinders won't allow you to acknowledge this.

Absolute bullsh it and you know it, as soon as you say anything negative about Obama, the left immediately brands you a racist. Unlike with Bush, the MSM acts like it is part of this administration.

How many of these you own, flex?

    Best post of the thread.

Keeping in mind that our president should be representing the majority of Americans wishes, I think he's going in the wrong direction on many fronts. Let's start by setting the reality he's working in. The majority of Americans aren't conservative nor are they liberal, thus he should be governing from and for middle-America....and he's not.

Today, he decided to TAKE money from the returns on TARP funds when he should be attempting to reduce our deficit. At some point, all our politicians are going to have to face a towering federal debt with solutions. The Chinese certainly aren't going to bail us out.

Federal deficit at this point in time is as important as our economy as the two are directly linked. Let us pray Obama doesn't double it in 2010!

Obama may be the "lowest rated president" at this point in his term, but it's worth noting that Clinton hit as low as 37% approval in his first year in office, and was in the high 40s by late Nov/early Dec.

And, an interesting fact that was pointed out on another board I visit, of the Presidents we've had for the last 40 years, the Republican with the lowest rating at this point was Reagan and the one with the highest was W. Also, the Democrat with the lowest rating at this point was Clinton, and the highest was Carter.
