AWESOME point, Brothah!! :rocker:

Nicely put, sir.

I'll tell ya, though: The way the CowBoys and Broncos played, this weekend ~ especially the CowBoys ~ spoke of a MAJOR turning point for both teams.

There're a TON of teams trailing Oakland, right now, that are improving as the season rolls forward.

In fact, no less than 24 of the 32 teams are currently within 3 games of each other.

Momentum is a funny thing, and the Raiders are a young, unseasoned team, enjoying its first success, but with no experience at tasting adversity in the wake of that success: If they get dropped 4 games in row, right now ~ and that's a distinct possibility ~ this month's Glory High may very well transform into next month's Desolation, resulting in a despondent team that can't pull out of its death spiral in December.

We can only hope. :D

Oakland has the type of defensive front that will give the Steelers fits I think. But, still think Pitt wins. Miami will have a long week to prepare for them too. Even thoough breaking in a new qb. I was thinking Cleveland and Minny as teams that could get to 7 wins. I'm hoping Oakland goes 2-5 to finish at 7-9.

Great Blue North is on the Job!!

Great Blue North Draft Report

Carolina and Beefalo are now in a dead heat for first!! Coin Flip City!!

And Oakland ~ as PennPat points out ~ is 22nd!!

#22 + #33.5!! Hah!!

It's ok Grid. They play the Steelers this week and a hard schedule the rest of the way.
I'd be worried if they win this week though. If everything goes right I'm thinking 11-14.

I'm not sure i've recovered from our game yet. Great day for our picks though. Oakland pick went from 21 to 14. Carolina is alone at the bottom of the standings. Top pick in the 2nd round. Woo hoo!! Minny has come apart at the seams. I have them at 7th. That would be 71st pick for one month of R.Moss...LOL

I think that at this point, it looks like the Panthers will bring us pick #33. They still have a home and home with Atlanta, they have to play at Pittsburg at Seattle. Next week they are at Cleveland, if they lose that one, the only other one they could possibly win is a home game with Arizona.

The Raiders NFC West portion of their schedule is now over, so they have a very winnable game at home coming up with Miami. After that they have to go to San Diego and Jacksonville, plus now the Pats have pretty much assured that the Colts will have to win the game against the Raiders in week 16. Our old friend Josh could throw us a bone and beat them and then they end the season at home against Matt Cassel. The best I can see for the Raiders is 8-8, they could easily end the season by going 1-5.

I think that we have to now put Minny into this thread. At 3-7 it does not look like they have many more wins in them this year. I can only ASSuME that both Favre and Chilly will be gone before any of us sit down for Turkey on Thrusday. Still, they have to play the Gaints, Philly, and Chicago, plus the suddenly potent Bills. This week they have the Redskins in Washington, if they lose that one, the Pats could be looking at three of the first 33 picks and overall, five picks in the top 70 !!!

You know, I was actually going to do that, several weeks ago, but one of the more annoying aspects of the PatsFans.com interface ~ albeit: one I actually consider a good idea, annoying or not ~ is that you can't edit Front Pages.

But I think you're right: The Top 64 thread has evolved, nicely, so why shouldn't this one, as well?

Does anyone else want to sound in on this?

And it is PARTICULARLY gratifying to publicly humiliate Chump Childress. :D

Well, since he's no longer employed after two ugly divisional losses, I don't know how much more he can be humiliated.

If the raiders fo 8-8, what pick are we looking at?17 18?

Too bad about Childress, though. That move makes the Vikings a real risk for a Jason Garrett effect, where a talented roster rallies its pride to support an interim coach they respect (and to make it clear that their earlier failings were all the old bum's fault ).

Regardless, I see the pair of 3rd round picks as key ammo if this shapes up to be a rare trade-up year, as seems likely. Assuming there is strong talent at top then a sharp dropoff, I can picture something like:

- Use the 3rds for modest moves up to position myself for 2 impact defensive players in the first round

- Trade the high 2nd to a team desperate to get in before the talent drops off a cliff, collecting their 2012 #1. (If this happens, it would mean that the Patriots converted #89 overall in 2009 into a 2010 2nd [Spikes], 2010 5th [Mesko] and a 2012 #1 pick.)

- Use the remaining #2 and later picks for strategic pickups

I'm calling my shot now. I'll be the Bambino of the draft board. We trade 33 to Oakland for their first in 2012 and 3 in 2011. We'll throw in a 5 to balance things out. Then with three 3's, ya know we'll deal one for a 2 in 2012.

If the raiders fo 8-8, what pick are we looking at?17 18?
More like around 14-15.

16 is the exact middle but because Oakland has a little easier than average schedule, especially compared to those currently around .500, the Oakland pick would be near the top of the 8-8 teams (SoS is the tiebreaker, easier picks earlier).

If the raiders fo 8-8, what pick are we looking at?17 18?

Honestly, there is SO little distance between #6 and #22 ~ or between #3 and #29, for that matter!! ~ that the range for 8-8 should fall anywhere between #12 and #20, the latter being a division winner!!

Too bad about Childress, though.

That move makes the Vikings a real risk for a Jason Garrett effect, where a talented roster rallies its pride to support an interim coach they respect (and to make it clear that their earlier failings were all the old bum's fault ).

Prime Candidates, INDEED. A VERY strong point, Sister PatChick.

For what it's worth: The Grid suggests ~ obviously, it's an estimate ~ that the difference in value between a #68, for instance, and a #78 is about 50 Points, which is precisely equal to the difference in value in moving up or down ONE spot, in the #8 ~ #18 range.

In other words, a big strong push by the Vikings could cost us Value, of course, but we could recoup it entirely, if that push is enough to get them past the Raiders.

Yes, I spend ENTIRELY too much time on this stuff.

Regardless, I see the pair of 3rd round picks as key ammo if this shapes up to be a rare trade-up year, as seems likely. Assuming there is strong talent at top then a sharp dropoff, I can picture something like:

Good LORD.

Coach Bill...It would seem he knows his business.

***

"collecting their 2012 #1."?? :D

Interesting choice of words.

I'm probably WAY out'f left field with this one ~ as is my wont ~ but I couldn't help but sense that that was an O-Ren Ishii reference:

While most every team will have 2 picks in the top 64, the Patriots could have 5 picks in the top 70 and a shiny trophy
