It may sound silly but I am so proud of this team after that performance. It was always going to be a tough game, and the weather made it even harder. After the highs of last week many players (especially in that weather) may have not "been at the races". A truly great, gutsy performance that showed our true character!!

Just hoping McCourty isn't badly hurt..we just don't need any further injuries

Can't say enough about this win. So impressed with how well rounded this team is. It would be an easy spot for the Pats to lay down and blame the weather...but no. The offense comes out in 5 wide and throws into the teeth of 30 mph the wind and runs the ball down the throat of one of the best NFC defenses. Meanwhile the defense, minus Spikes, smashes the Chicago offense in the mouth and continues to force turnovers.

Considering CBS even cut away from the game early in the third because we were killing them, I doubt it gets replayed on NFLN.

You can probably find a torrent of it though in a day or so. Usually torrents are split up by half. If you want to save time, just download the first half since the game was over after that :singing:

Love the way Brady keeps quoting BB. "Like our coach says, it's the Bears that are our opponent, not the weather." He started that theme in the off-season when he talked about listening to the coach more.

What a game -- 350+ yards passing against that D in that weather.

This offense is clicking on all cylinders right now. A little sloppy in the second half and the coverage teams need some work, but it was an overall impressive win against a quality team with a good defense in bad weather in hostile territory. I'll take it any day of the week.

there did not appear to be any adjustments as to a snow game other than the gear they wear.

The Patriots came out and ran their offense

... nice to see they feel great confidence to do that ... oh ... and it worked. :D

Re: Official Pats-Bears Post-Game Thread - Defense & Special Teams

I figure this is a good place for me to respond to Curious George..

Pats put up 108 rushing yards with Woodhead and Green-Ellis on 28 carries.. I won't mention Taylor's runs since he was in garbage time.

Well, I think it's safe to say that, while Cutler has a stronger arm, he's just not that good. 12/26 and 2 ints... Not to mention the Fumble..

Looks like Brady survived and then some. The same can't be said about Cutler.

Ok.. I can give Lovie's Cover 2 some credit.. It has the distinction of giving up more points in a single half to the Patriots than either the Steelers or the Jets.... It also has the distinction of giving up more total yards of offense (475) than any other team the Pats have faced this year. Great job..

Nope. It was ranked 2nd to last before this game in terms of yards allowed. Thanks to the Bears and Cutler, I think they actually are going to move up to about 24th or so, we'll know after Monday's game. And they just held you to 7 points while putting up 36 on your #2 ranked defense...

As you were told, the Pats defense has just started to hit it's stride.

Re: Official Pats-Bears Post-Game Thread - Defense & Special Teams

    Four turnovers.

    Two picks off Cutler passes.

Are we still going to hear about how bad this 31st worst defense is next week - especially with another good quarterback going against the Pats next week?

Bears had all of 42 plays from scrimmage.
    Chicago had just 185 yards.
Matt Forte averaged 2.5 yards per carry.
Bears rushed for a total of 47 yards.
Less than five yards per pass attempt.

About the only negative I can come up with is on the coverage of the Pats special teams, but it's really difficult to find anything wrong with this game as a fan of the Pats.

Loved Urlacher's post-game press conference. He ate crow and said Pats are definitely best team in the NFL and that he had no idea what he was talking about earlier this week.

Re: Official Pats-Bears Post-Game Thread - Defense & Special Teams

Guyton with some big plays. Run defense looked real solid. McCourty with another huge play. I hope he is ok and will be back next week. Defense has come on strong in the last few weeks. I would be concerned with ST coverage units. Only weakness I have seen in a few weeks.

Defense played another awesome game. If I am going to nit pick the Special Teams needs to tighten their coverage on kick offs.

That's the worst of it. We kept a 9-3 Jets to 3 points and a 9-3 Bears to 7 points in their backyard.

This team is coming along nicely.... very nicely indeed.

Re: Official Pats-Bears Post-Game Thread - Defense & Special Teams

This was 4 quarters of very good Pats Team Football... lots of guys were rotating, and even Moore?? played a role. Guyton stepped up big time.

The only concern, and maybe it was a weather issue, is that we seemed to give up a lot of kick off return yards.. but that can be resolved.

Overall, our turnover ratio is near the top, +18 I believe.. the D finally seems to be "getting it"....

    Re: Official Pats-Bears Post-Game Thread - Offense

they did slow down a little bit in the 2nd half... but give the Bears some credit they played some good D and got a good Rush on... something for the coaches to point out to the players they need to work on... got to keep this team hungry.

Great win today and what the hell was cutler thinking with that 2nd interception? he threw it straight to merriweathers chest

4 more turnovers today. That gives the Pats 20 Interceptions and 6 forced fumbles.

Best part was no turnovers by the Pats.. They have only turned the ball over 9 times on the season. Which is pretty damn amazing as well.

wait...I thought THIS was the week...THIS was "FINALLY IT!!!!!"....where's all the "I'm REAL SCARED THIS WEEK!!!" blabberguts posters??...what is it NOW...next week is the "REAL BAD ONE!!!!"????..Is that it, Nancy and Shirley and Agnes and Ruth and the rest of you always crying, whining women trapped in men's bodies??..let's hear it...you all start whining eventually anyway..why wait until tomorrow when you'll dig up some idiotic stat that proves "REAL BAD!!!!" is going to happen THIS week. Myself, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my afternoon watching the Patriots I follow DESTROY the outmatched Bears. In THEIR house.

So start the nitpicky passion play of whining and complaining and gushing tears like a five year girl who skinned her knee about how scared you are because NEXT week is the week and some missed block in this game "IS REAL BAD!!! AND PROVES PATS BAD!!!!!"...someo9ne needs to start a "Pessimistic Pats Fans Only" site so all you Debbie Downers can sit in a big circle and cry in your friggin' tissues.
