Don't see a thread on European soccer here so I might as well start one.

    Team I follow - Arsenal

Season is already starting to fall apart. Giroud's gone for 3-4 months. Might be time for a panic buy and go get Cavani.

Was hoping for a more established striker but Welbeck is better than current option in the team.

United did well getting Falcao and Blind. Should be interesting how all their new signings work out.

Welbeck is an interesting signing. He seemed to excel under a good manager. He's got the right amount of slickness and grit to excel with Wenger. Arsenal were never going to sign Cavani. PSG have invested in him, and unlike Monaco, whose sugar daddy seems to be giving up after one year of ownership (he also got taken to the cleaners in a divorce), PSG aren't going to sell their best players.

On paper, Falcao, Blind, and Di Maria are good signings, but they're still gonna get played off of the field against the good teams. They have nobody who can even compete with Chelsea, Arsenal, and City in the midfield. They really flubbed it by putting all of their eggs in the Vidal basket. United fans seem confident that Strootman comes in January, but it'd make no sense for Roma to sell unless their season goes completely down the tubes.

I think Arsenal really needs a defensive midfielder. Missing out on Khediera was huge IMO. Arteta and Flamini just aren't strong enough. Just watching them play against City, you could see how a tough midfielder like Fernandinho can do to opposing midfields.

I thought Arsenal also should have gone after Xabi Alonso when he became available. Would have strengthened our midfield defensively.

Another issue is Ozil playing out wide. It's crazy that he's playing a position that has to be counted on to track back and play defense. He's just not that type of player. Arsenal is constantly getting beat out wide on his side.

I missed out on MU last game so I don't know how they played with their new personnel. Di Maria has been in form for quite some time now so I'm not surprised he played well according to what I've read. They're midfield is not strong, but Van Gaal's tactics has always been about counter attacking with their wide players.

It can't get any worse defensively than that game last night against Dortmund. It was like 11 vs 9 out on the pitch.

What a great weekend in the EPL!

Ozil back in form, Man U getting embarrassed, Liverpool taking an L, City and Chelsea only getting a single point.

Ozil injured and might be gone for good. Wenger is a stubborn old Frenchman. Just play the guy in his preferred position.

Chelsea looks like they could coast all the way to the title.

I'm sure there are. Chelsea should win the title this year. Mourinho has got them playing exactly how he wants them to play. It's a special talent to get all those ego maniacs to play a defensive style of futbal and commit to it.

I agree to that. Mourinho is an excellent persuader. They are even dominating the odds by a huge number. In my opinion, this team is being well managed compared to their competitors. For additional sports news and football odds updates, you can check

In our lifetime, we may be fortunate enough to witness true greatness in sport only a handful of times.
    My list is small:
A young Bobby Orr dominating a position and a league....toying with his competitors.
Wayne Gretzky....another man among the children.
    Larry Bird.....aka Larry God
    Michael Jordan....a different league
Usain Bolt..........a modern day Greek god

    ....And now to futball
Messi and Ronaldo. For the past couple of years I have been trying to differentiate the two in my mind with labels. Before yesterday's Barcelona/Man City Champions League match, this was how I would have classified each player.
Ronaldo......most dominate/best athlete I have ever watched play soccer goal scorer I have ever seen
Both labels are are far too simple
Secretly, I have always admired Ronaldo's incredible athleticism and if their was one athlete in the world I could trade places with, on and off the field, it's Ronaldo. Tom Brady is a distant second....Ronaldo's life is that good....... BUT.........I have always rooted for Messi and much of the reason is he "appears" as the underdog....not all that special physically, diminutive compared to his peers, a lunch pail worker at least compared to that Greek God performing in Madrid. Yesterday, as the teams lined up for the pregame photo, there was little Lionel....undersized among the least compared to him......AND THEN THE GAME STARTED.....
Verses the Premier League champs, little Lionel dominated a sports competition like I had not seen since the Jordan era. Two rosters full of the world's best players but only one player owned that field. The first 45 was as special a performance as I had ever seen....and the man didn't even score. Messi literally toyed with Man City. Dribbled through legs with ankle breaking precision. Laser diagonal passes into the box. I could go on and on. It was a special performance based on the creativity of this little magician. I spent the entire game repeating time after time..."How'd he do one can do that....he did it again."
Ronaldo may be a special athlete....but Messi is special in a different context. Yesterday he was an artist the likes I have never ever seen. It's a shame the US TV market favors the Premier league vs the Spanish league because the Messi/Ronaldo show deserves more of our attention, beyond that of the futball junkies who know the truth about world futball.....and Messi now rules that world once again

To me, Messi is this generations best and one of the top 3 all time greats. I can't say the same for Cristiano. I would even say the Brazilian Ronaldo was a better footballer than Cristiano. Cristiano is a great athlete for sure, but IMO Ronaldo was a more complete player and better striker.

And I would add Tiger to the list of true greatness in sports in this generation.

Barça on the brink of getting the treble. Love that team, especially Lionel Messi. He's one of a kind and I'll miss him dearly when his playing days are over.

I don't agree with this Condon, just simply for the fact Brazilian Ronaldo didn't have the longevity CR7 is having. That to me goes a long way. CR7 been playing at an elite level consistently since 2006. And he's done it playing in the EPL and LaLiga.

The 3 greatest players I've seen in my lifetime are CR7, Messi and Zidane.

Even when Ronaldo was fat he was still often times the best player on the pitch. You really have to be eating everything in site to get fat when you're training for soccer. All that running around should keep everyone fit. It's too bad he was really into food and apparently trannies too, lol.

Your list is as good as any.

Fantastic Champions League tournament this year.

Copa America has been great so far too. Best sporting event going on right now.

Well Brazilian Ronaldo was partying too hard, it wasnt just food lol

I will say Ronaldo 1 year at Barcelona was outstanding. I never seen a player dominate the way he did that year. And of course he was incredible during the 2002 World Cup.

Damn incredible year for soccer this 2015/2016 season. Leicester being the big story of the year. What an amazing season for them. Goes to show the PL is hands down the best league in the world. As for the Champions who do you guys have as favorites to hoist the "Orejona" Real Madrid or Atletico?
