Man, I've been watching every playoff game and at times would think, well if they lose: they have a few more years, they had a good year, its been enjoyable watching them, etc, etc. NOW, there aint no freakin' way they can lose, it would be devastating. That would hit me about as hard as the 'other' loss this year. BEAT LA, BEAT LA, BEAT LA!

In 1985 they changed the final home court format to 2-3-2, just like baseball. Naturally, the Celtics were victimized by that switch. Thanks to a late bucket by DJ to tie the series at 2-2, the Celtics were forced to play Game 5 at the Forum instead of back in Boston Garden (which was 104 degrees a year earlier). The Lakers won Game 5, then took Game 6 at the Garden to beat the Celtics in the playoffs for the first time ever. CBS flashed a stat back then of how many teams that win Game 5 go on to win the NBA title, and sure enough, the Lakers did. The next year, the Celtics won Game 5 at Houston and wrapped things up at home in Game 6.

However, the following year the Celtics won Game 5 at home, but all that did was make the series 3-2 Lakers thanks to that sick shot by Magic to win Game 4. The Lakers put the Celtics to sleep in Game 6 in Inglewood.

On Thursday the Celtics will play their first NBA Finals game since that Game 6.

This feels so damn good. If the Celts can string up #17, it will DEFINITELY take some sting out of the SB loss for me. :rocker:
