Because this is the Steelers bye week Blount has a very good chance to become the 6th player in NFL history to play in 17 regular-season games.

1993
Chris Singleton - New England-Miami

1995
Dexter Carter - New York Jets-San Francisco

2004
Jerry Rice - Oakland-Seattle
Micah Ross - San Diego-Carolina

2009
Will Witherspoon - St. Louis-Philadelphia

How is his compensation affected?

Chris Singleton...Another great Joe Mendes pick. Gawd was he terrible.

Of course Jerry Rice would hold this record too

That is an interesting tidbit

I thought salary is guaranteed if on the roster week 1?
Now it is now cap-nerdom time.
Blount is indeed eligible for termination pay. But he can only claim it once. From the CBA: Termination Pay under this Article shall be claimed and payable no sooner than one day after the end of the regular season schedule, and no later than February 1. "

Blount has to decide if he wants to get paid for the next 6 weeks by both the Steelers ($317,647) and the Patriots or use his termination pay for future seasons.

Because Blount is eligible for termination pay, the Steelers did not save any cap space by releasing Blount since they have to account for their termination pay liability.

Blount tidbit? You have roach clip for that?
