I admit that I'm not on top of this stuff as much as some of you are. And maybe I read and listen to the wrong news outlets.

I know that he wants to raise taxes on the "rich". But,I'm not aware of any specific Obama proposal to cut spending to limit this years budget debt. Or his plan to cut spending over the next 3 years.

Could someone fill me in on what his specific plan is for reducing spending? It's probably posted in detail on some web site, right?

    Thanks.

There really isn't much detail out there as they're still negotiating.

I believe the original framework they agreed to with Boehner consists of 83-17 ratio of cuts to revenue. I don't believe they're planning to implement new taxes, but rather reform the code to limit deductions, loopholes, etc.

Obama and the Democrats want to cut spending and raise taxes. More revenue and less spending = debt reduction.

Boehner: Obama has no debt plan. Republicans do - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

The GOP plan? Cut taxes and spending without touching the Military budget.

But what specific cuts does Obama propose? He said that he was willing to compromise and make cuts to do somethng "big".

If I'm negotiating with someone, I have a specific proposal and they have a specific proposal and then we try to blend the 2 proposals into something we both can live with.

Right, but these concessions aren't going to be made public until a deal is finally reached.

I think his plan is to not really address the debt, reduce yearly deficits (not end deficits, just reduce) by some amount in some time frame, claim victory and let the problem get worse. I believe the GOP shares the same vision.

Obozo is lying which is SOP for him and Harry R. He submitted a budget for next year (which got no votes in congress) and it contains spending increases and no cuts. So this late conversion is for political theater. The game is to get the pubs to endorse tax increases so he can run ads about that in the next campaign.

    Spin and nothing more.

I know first hand the the military budget has been touched and decimated. From pay and hiring freezes to huge cuts in budget. My budget alone was cut by well over half. I normally operate on a $9M annual budget, but only received $812k.

I find it hard to believe that a Left Wing Liberal Democrat wants to "cut spending"

the military usually gets a 3.0 % pay raise which is designed to keep up with inflation. so a 1.6 % pay raise is actually a cut. Civilian pay has been froze as well as a 2 for 1 hiring freeze for 2 years, which means each office must have 2 vacancies before they can go through the process to hire 1.

put yes, the military will still be able to buy big shinny toys.

    My opinion is this:

I think Obama wants to compromise with the GOP, I think he may even agree with them at least 60%. But his party won't let him do it. Now he can do it or lose the next election or he can go the party route and try to be a 2 term President.

Is the democratic platform more important than the budget?

This is the dilema Obama faces ... in my opinion - and he cannot go public with it of course.

Also Boehner has this problem also - I think he wants to compromise with Obama but the tea baggers are a problem.

You said your budget went from $9 million to $812K. I don't believe you.

It's a fact. The program i run for the AF went from 9M to 812k. I would have no reason to lie about that. If you know me, i am straight down the middle on this board, again, no reason to lie. I am just pointing out that the military has been cut.
