Newsmax.com - U.S. Military To Recruit Immigrants on Temp Visas

WASHINGTON – The U.S. military will begin recruiting immigrants with special skills who are in the United States on temporary visas, offering a chance to become citizens in as little as six months, The New York Times reported.

I can't even begin to what a bad idea this is....

All but two of the 9/11 hijackers would qualify for this program, and I guarentee that the "special skill" they are looking for is Arabic speakers. We already now that Ganbangers have been inlisting to learn combat skills, now could you image the assistance of inside men in the US military is going to be for the terrorists!!!

What they are talking about is people here on student visas (they would be the only ones in the US long enough to qualify under the outlines they have set up). Almost everyone of the 9/11 hijackers were here on a student visa. These people have no loyalty to the US. This is a giant mistake!!

I'm not sure that America will survive the Obama years.........

Wow, attacking the military. Good for you, FreeTed!

But the article does say that they'll be used to "help the military fill shortages in medical care, language interpretation and field intelligence analysis." I would guess that the people they already have will handle the most sensitive subjects and use the most sophisticated tools, while these new people will handle the mundane that isn't being dealt with at all right now. That said, like you, I don't have complete faith in the military either.

This God Damn Obama Bastard will do more damage to this country in six months than GW Bush could do in a lifetime.

He's their Poster Boy though they like looking at him and patting themselves on the back.

One of the NY Times goofy left wing female reporters says she has dreams of taking a shower with him.

Having been a TS/SCI linguist/analyst for our intelligence services in the late 80's and early 90's (under Reagan and Bush I), I can categorically tell you that this is nothing new.

Sorry to burst your bubble FTW.

Big DIFFERNCE between hiring a contractor, and giving an alien on a temporary visa, citizenship and letting them enlist in the ARMY.

How about the source of the NEWSMAX Story: The NY TIMES:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/us/15immig.html?_r=1&em

Stretched thin in Afghanistan and Iraq, the American military will begin recruiting skilled immigrants who are living in this country with temporary visas, offering them the chance to become United States citizens in as little as six months.

The key word there is BEGIN!!

The American Army finds itself in a lot of different countries where cultural awareness is critical,” said Lt. Gen. Benjamin C. Freakley, the top recruitment officer for the Army, which is leading the pilot program. β€œThere will be some very talented folks in this group.”

The program will begin small β€” limited to 1,000 enlistees nationwide in its first year, most for the Army and some for other branches. If the pilot program succeeds as Pentagon officials anticipate, it will expand for all branches of the military. For the Army, it could eventually provide as many as 14,000 volunteers a year, or about one in six recruits.

Yeah, a Pilot program, that sounds like something that has been around for years.

Oh yeah, enlisting them in the army is waaaaayyyyy more sensitive than giving them clearances in the halls of our intelligence agency headquarters!

You have NO idea what you are talking about on this subject.
