CURL: The cost of a NYC weekend - Washington Times

Obama wants us to sacrify or cut back while he and his family enjoyed their evening together during the recession. I hope that he likes NY pizza.

Glad to see folks so vigilant over everything Obama does, seem to recollect that most of the presidents take weekend trips.. hope this watchdog standard continues for our future presidents as well.

Not sure how you come up with this "costed" figure.. but it is a guesstimate.

Man, I'm no Obama fan, but I don't know how someone manages (or why they would want to) dig up this much stuff and post it here everyday...

The cost of his weekend is .000001% of what it costs for the Iraq War every weekend.

The government should spend anything it wants - because it's "only a certain percentage of the Iraq war".

Imagine how a spendy wife could justify this one

Not sure I ever remember any rhetoric about not doing anything while in office.. perhaps the difference is his visibility in the US and doing things, versus others who prefer their ranches etc.

I hear you. And it's much akin to BDS, which spiked in the last 8 years. Oddly, it still seems to have not died out completely yet...

Good thing we have at least another 3+ (maybe 7+) years of similar behavior. I hate it from both sides, it cheapens legitimate political debate.

As long as his expensive weekend can be called "wise spending" to us, the taxpayers, it's all good :

He should have considered frivolous weekends before making unwise statements like the above.

What do we learn about Obama? His changes are NOT FREE.

Whenever Obama announces his new ideas or programs, they cost a lot of money. In addition to that, we have to insure that he and his family are happy , healthy, and well-fed. Frankly, it costs too much. Yes, he is doing better than some of us.

I wish I had an option to opt out of his costly change because i'm tired of paying the bills when i have not seen any good things from him.

Change is all good. Why don't you pay for his children trip to Disneyland during this summer?

    IRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQ!!!

So that makes it ok I guess. Hey, why not spend $250 million on a weekend trip then, since it would only be .0001% of the IRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQ war.

It's really funny (as I predicted it would be! and yes I am going to pat myself on the back :D) to see the complete reversal of Coke and Pepsi in this forum. Where BDS totally consumed people, OOCD is totally consuming others. The funny part however, is that the people who hollared and screamed at anything GW, are now upset with people doing the same to their guy. Those very people have defended anything, and everything the messiah does. Meet the new people, same as the old people.

Yep. And that's why I don't post that much anymore. I just feel like I usually have nothing to add to threads of that (this) type.

As for the weekend junket, at anywhere between $50,000, to $250,000, depending on who you believe, it's outrageous. I'm not in the least bit surprised by it, since the guy is politics as usual. He's a man who tells you that you can't keep your thermostat at 70, but has the heat jacked up in his own office. He's a dude who talks about carbon footprints, yet takes two helicopters, and an Air Force One jet to go see a Broadway show. He's someone who says we're out of money, but has no issues spending taxpayer money on personal luxuries. He's politics as usual is all.

Before it was Bush sucks, now it's Obama sucks. I think you can disagree with specific policies, but you lose cred when you simply take a position that automatically disagree's with the man.

It is comical how the roles have been completely reversed on this forum. I just find it amusing how people justify a 1/4 of a million dollars being spent on a weekend trip, lets not even go into the fact that is enough to support 3-4 family's for a entire year! But yeah lets compare what Bush spent for a war to what is spent on a single night out on the town for Obama, great comparison!
