OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL - New York Post

There has been some discussion in legal circles as to whether this constitutes a violation of the Logan Act. I believe that at the very least this was in improper move by Barrack Obama based purely on his political ambitions and not the best interests of the United States. But then again thats par for the course when it involves Obama.

I think the title of the article is misleading. What he wanted was to prevent an agreement between the Bush admin and Iraq that he would be locked into upon taking office. It gets back to the question I raised a while back, would he honor such an agreement if the timetable for withdrawal was longer than he had wanted?

Really he wants a delay in the agreement until his administration can set the terms, which is much less objectionable than if he was secretly fighting against troop drawdowns.

So he's directly trying to set foreign policy while he is not President? And trying to do it covertly, nonetheless? Wow, what hubris. Sounds like treason to me.

Stokes, whatever his intentions were, he's clearly stepping on the toes of a sitting administration. Whether this violates the Logan Act or not, is debatable, but IMO, he over stepped his place here.

Would you expect anything else from this writer.. a big question how does Obama do this secretly?? Is our intelligence community asleep at the wheel.. precisely what legal circles are you speaking of, the ones made up in your mind???

I have another funny joke for you:

Man walks into a doctors office, the doctor says to the man, "You're going to have to stop masturbating."
The man says to the doctor, "Why?"
The doctor says, "So I can examine you."

Yeah, I don't think what he did is right, but I did think that the article's headline was misleading.

Obama's talk with Iraqi foreign minister - First Read - msnbc.com

Same story, but from a source more comfortable to the left. Obama essentially says that troop reductions must move forward, but not under the Bush administration. Our troops should come home as the conditions allow, not used as political pawns to score talking points in an election.

Not sure it is the same story as the one you posted, this reads quite a bit differently.. btw who are the legal circles that are after him.. and if he did negotiate where were our intelligence people???

I'm speaking to the quotes of the Iraqi FM. I don't care what the writer of the article's spin is.

Without regard two different sources, two diametrically opposing quotes.. what is correct.. who are the "legal circles" pursuing this and where were our intelligence people??.. it is preposterous to think that they would allow a potential Pres candidate to meet alone... with the leaders of Iraq..

Repeat it as much as you want, it really makes no sense..
