There's not much to be happy about unless you like increased deficits and circumventing the way Congress is supposed to work (regardless of whether Republicans "did it before").

I am a far right independent who is in favor of major changes to the
    healthcare system.

I am still against Obamacare if Nebraska & Lousiana get a free ride.

If they are going to do it without the 60 votes, why not do it with 55 or 57
votes and make Nebraska & Lousiana pay like every other state.

The thing is, the best way to help businesses, and therefore jobs, is to lower taxes. Democrats just don't understand that.

That part is out but it's still a con job with the CBO cost projection not being for a full 10 years. When obama was elected I said "hold onto your wallets" and, unfortunately, I was more correct than I realized.

My views align with yours exactly.

Also, part of the plan was to tax "Cadillac health plans" beginning in 2018 except UNION workers would be exempt.

In my book, that must be UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

Even if it isn't, I challenge anyone to give me an intelligent reason why non-union workers should be exempt while everyone else with one of these plans will be taxed.

    Anyone?.....

Obviously there isn't a good answer but the two answers are :

    1) It's in their union contract.
    2) The obamans owe them and want to keep them in 2012.

    1. Since unions had no idea health insurance would be taxed (it never has been), I highly doubt they previously had this written into their contracts.

    2. Contracts are only for specific periods of time, so lets review when these contracts run out.

    3. I'm sure it's before 2018!

Well here ya go......both provisions are gone from the new proposal.

Obama noted that his plan deletes proposals that Republicans have attacked in recent weeks. They include exempting the state of Nebraska from Medicaid costs, and maintaining Medicare Advantage benefits from residents of Florida.

Obama explores Republican ideas for revised health care bill - The Oval: Tracking the Obama presidency

Under the Obama plan, there would be 100 percent federal support for all states for newly eligible individuals on Medicaid from 2014 through 2017, 95 percent support for 2018 and 2019, and 90 percent for 2020 and beyond. But the Senate bill, which would provide a higher reimbursement percentage for a poor state like Louisiana, would have paid 95 percent of the costs of newly eligible individuals beginning in 2020.

But are they gonna take out the union exemption on the cadillac health plan tax?

    Hmmmm?;)

No sir. They're also not going to get a true CBO score by including all the costs for the full ten year period. If someone wants a higher percentage of people getting health insurance at any cost, great, but hopefully they'll admit it's going to be the final straw of the budget busters we have.

I like the progress of making all states pay threir fair share.
Now they just need to get the unions to pony up their fare share.

Nobody should support this plan until all workers are treated equal.

The unions used to be useful, but now that we have all these works rights laws, I think they do more harm than good.
