The election results, amazingly, are still coming in. Today, Obama crossed the 65 million mark and several days ago Romney's vote totals surpassed McCain's. Obama is still down 4.5 million from 4 years ago, and he's leading Romney by about the same amount. I believe when the results were first announced, some were pointing out that Obama had 10 million fewer votes than in 2008; so the revised numbers represent a significant gain.

Ironically, Romney is down to 47.37% of the vote, which rounded is 47%. Maybe he was right about the 47% after all, only wrong about which party they vote for. At any rate, I think there are a lot of interesting observations one can make about the numbers. I can't imagine there are many votes left to count, but the counting is still going on since I know that Obama only passed the 65 million mark today.

I thought that Romney beat McCain and Obama came in with over 4 million votes less than in 2008 were talking points that righties might have enjoyed; that's why I included them. But maybe you're still getting over the loss. Didn't mean to open wounds. Sorry.

I didn't realize you were the spokesperson for all conservatives on the board. The world clearly hasn't moved on if you've been following the news about the fiscal cliff, about Tea Partiers talking about trying to get states to boycott the electoral college, about Tea Partiers starting web sites claiming their was fraud. But, that wasn't even my point. My point was merely there are a lot of interesting stories in the numbers. Perhaps this thread isn't for you. May I humbly suggest that if you're not interested the topic, you not participate in it? It's a general rule of thumb that works well in the main forum too.

If anything changes in the next 2 years I will acknowledge that Obama won the race.

For now I will say what I said before the race ... I am not expecting much to change.

Will the real Barack Obama please step forward ...

If it's such a non-issue as you claim, why are you even bothering to post in the thread?

Methinks the butthurt is strong with this one.

It's like having GW Bush in office for 16 years, only a little worse.

I still think Obama is taking his orders from Bush.

Republicans considered Bush's victory over Kerry a mandate, so clearly Obama has an even stronger mandate. Let's hope he doesn't buckle to the lunatics of the right.

    Taegan Goddard's Political Wire

As the votes keep coming in, David Wasserman notes President Obama's national lead over Mitt Romney is now 50.9% to 47.4%.

First Read: "That's a bigger (and more decisive) margin that Bush's victory over John Kerry in 2004 (which was Bush 50.7% and Kerry 48.2%). What's more, the president's lead has grown to close to 3 points in Ohio, 4 points in Virginia and 6 points in Colorado. One doesn't win Colorado by six points without winning swing voters; there isn't a big-enough Democratic base to make that argument."

I'm not sure about that ... wasn't it more like Bush felt he had a mandate?
