    Nice link.

The President has said, repeatedly, and up until last week the GOP agreed, that a temporary solution is unacceptable.

Interesting chess game, especially given Reid's latest move offering the Republicans $2.7 trillion in deficit reduction without new revenues, what the Republicans are on record as they they wanted. I think that's thrown the Republicans off guard. Don't expect this to be settled until the last minute.

The big issue for the Republicans now is getting the Dems to cut Medicare, because the Republicans (fools that they are) are on record as supporting massive cuts to Medicare, which will hurt them in the election.

Just cuz the term "bipartisan" is used, it doesn't mean it's good.

$2.7 trillion in cuts is meaningless until we're told the specifics details about the cuts in question.

I get a kick out of people using meaningless terms like "balanced" "bipartisan" and "$$$ cuts" when discussing this issue. I want the specific details please.

Remember Boehner Reid Pelosi and McConnell met yesterday so this is the framework they apparently put in place.

I think Reid changed his approach due to the polls on the matter showing 66% wanted spending cuts and not tax increases. Also there are many more dem Senators than pubs up for reelection next year.

As for RW comments without knowing specifics we don't know if it is a good deal for the American I expect a fair amount of smoke and mirrors from this bunch.

No, I think they're working on multiple things at once. I think what we're seeing is a lot of gamesmanship, with the Dems trying to force a split in the Republicans. It that happens, it won't come easily. As far as the polls go, I bet that entered into this game a long time ago.

So far you keep complaining that Obama hasn't released any details of anything the Dems are agreeing to - but why can't the Republicans do the same thing? Wouldn't you think it would be in their best interest, too, to show America the exact depth and breath of whatever it is they're either accepting or rejecting?

House Passes Paul Ryan Budget Proposal in Partisan Vote

They walked into Obama's trap. Dumbarses.

    And there's this:

Cut Cap and Balance Act | Home

If Obama has a plan, it appears to be in the Witness Protection Program...or it's at the "undisclosed location" formerly occupied by Cheney.

Obama has already endorsed Reid's plan.

It's become clear he's ceding the negotiations largely to Congressional leaders, as by injecting himself in the debate he's only making it easier for the GOP to oppose whatever plan he offers.

Then why doesn't Reid pass his plan?

Still nothing about military and corporate loophole cuts. Hmmmm...farm subsidies, anyone? Multi-national restrictions? Tarriffs? Anything to do with jobs coming out of this?

We might be entering a period of leadership vacuum in this country that we haven't seen before. Thank you all-pervasive, round-the-clock media! Thank you opponents of campaign finance limitations! The more I hear about the behavior of the so-called government, the more sick my stomach gets. What an embarrassment!

So you admit that the Dems had no detailed plan until today.

    No further questions.

Uh, no, I admitted nothing of the sort and am mystified how you managed to interpret that from my post.

As they've been negotiating over the past several weeks:
