Its a superbowl party I would assume team jerseys would be the required dress code.

Not necessarily. Murphy is my Congressman, Pennsylvania 8th which is at the easternmost part of the state on the NJ line, suburbs of Philly. we are 300 miles from Pittsburgh and closer to any of NE,NYJ,NYG, Phil, Wash and Balt than to Pittsburgh. People here consider Pittsburgh part of the midwest and we are closer geographically/politically/culturally ( yeah there is some of that in Philly- cheesesteak and a beer) to any of the above mentioned cities than Pitt.

Murphy was the only Congressman to vote against a House resolution congratulating the Giants for their victory in last year's Super Bowl. His reasoning was that he was an Eagles fan and as such, there was no way he was congratulating the Giants for anything!!

Sarah Palin...? I wonder how many men in Washington have fantasies about her? Of course, most of these fantasies include dancing to "Viva-Viagra"! :D

No "finger" foods. Just the stuff one uses toothpicks with.

    No Jersey Selected

Hopefully this is just the first of many interactions between Dems and Repubs. I've made it clear before and I'll do it again that I think the country should steer towards a bipartisan government.

    I agree.

And even it we don't agree on monetary policy or embryonic stem cell research we can watch a football game together.

And it is not only possible, but likely that the casual social gatherings will help break down barriers.
