The Raw Story | Obama blasts 'shameful' Wall Street bonuses

The president's ire was sparked when he read a newspaper article detailing the 18.4 billion dollars in bonuses racked up by Wall Street firms last year, even as stock markets plunged and the economy slumped towards a recession.

"That is the height of irresponsibility. It is shameful, and part of what we are going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint and show some discipline and show some sense of responsibility," Obama told reporters in the Oval Office.

Meet the New Boss......exactly the opposite of the old boss. (anyone recall Bush's "Wall Street got drunk" comments????)

clear out GITMO for these white collar thieves.

I read he's trying to find a way to get the 18 bill back. If he could do that, that really would make a lasting impression.

They were private corporations back then, he has no business going after it. Bonuses are none of his business except for the companies that recently have taken government money and then it's only his business for what happened after they took the money.

Right again. Congress should have checked to see if these bonuses had been given before the bailout was distributed. But then again, that would have involved due diligence and everyone knows we didn't have time for that because the rogue planetoid was headed towards Earth and was going to vaporize the planet if that bailout wan't passed , like...YESTERDAY!

And Obama was one of the negligent jerks who voted for it...and now he's MAD?

    Gimme a freakin BREAK!

But the bonuses were before that. They were last year. Obama needs to butt out.
