    ROCHESTER, N.Y. – February 19, 2009 – When The Harris Poll® asked a crosssection
of adult Americans to say whom they admire enough to call their heroes,
President Barack Obama was mentioned most often, followed by Jesus Christ and
Martin Luther King. Others in the top ten, in descending order, were Ronald Reagan,
George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley
    Sullenberger and Mother Teresa.

These heroes were named spontaneously. Those surveyed were not shown or read a
list of people to choose from. The Harris Poll was conducted online among a sample of
2,634 U.S. adults (aged 18 and over) by Harris Interactive® between January 12 and 19,
    2009.

Obama is smart enough though and a scholar of history to not tell Maureen Cleve that he is "more popular than Jesus" like John Lennon did.

Then you'd have all the Right Wing Christians burning Obama inaugural magazines and stomping on copies of his books.

All this really does is depress me with the idiocy of certain Americans. We'll see how much of a hero he is in four years.

Saw a poll today, he's still at 67% approval, with 60% of those polled actually saying they favor the stimulus bill (although something like 30% say they think it will directly impact their own wallet.)

The polls also show the people wanted less spending and more tax cuts in the stimulus bill. They don't actually support the bill they got but they say they support the (generic) bill because they've been convinced the earth will stop spinning without it.

Well, on the stimulus bill 53% say it will hurt or have little impact. And for $1T, having little impact is a failure. An epic failure :

Rasmussen Reports: The Most Comprehensive Public Opinion Site.

"Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters nationwide believe the $787-billion stimulus plan passed by Congress will help the economy. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 29% believe the plan will hurt and 24% believe it will have little impact."

And on the housing bailout, more oppose it that support it :

Rasmussen Reports: The Most Comprehensive Public Opinion Site.

"Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans oppose the federal government subsidizing mortgage payments for financially troubled homeowners, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Thirty-eight percent (38%) think government subsidies are a good idea, and 18% are not sure which course is best to follow."

Yeah, i dare you to go into the Food Co-op there and yell "Obama sucks".

I bet Central Square people who eat Whole Foods, whatever that is, would be more violent to you than the African-Americans.

I may not agree with Harry on a lot of things but hes my nominee for best comedy writer on the board. The long essays are worth every minute. I dont mind listening to someone on the other side if they are entertaining.

Thats why i cant stand Rush. Not funny.

But Jay Severin I used to love listening to every afternoon.

I'm with you. I hate almost all radio political talk guys unless they interject humor.

Harry Boy, everyday without fail, makes me laugh. I don't have to agree with him to laugh. I love comedian Marc Maron, but I rarely agree with him. But the guy is genius.
