I know there will be the usual right contingent who will dismiss this as propaganda, but give it a look.. it does explain how he became chairman of the board, and that it had nothing to do with Ayers.. once again as someone is familiar with non profit boards, boards are usually the idea folks.. and they give direction and accountability to the grant.. the other folks do the work and answer to the board, not the other way around.

Who the hell cares whether Ayers or anyone else recommended Obama?? That's meaningless. What DOES matter is that once they met, Ayers, his wife and co-terrorist, Bernadette Dorhn, and others of that murky, radical left, all warmly embraced the "open-minded", good-speaking Barack Obama as not only a "friend" but as an ally and potential future water-carrier for their cause.

Even worse, McCain embraced Vietnamese leaders at the expense of MIAs. Damned if we, damned if we don't, looks like either way we end up with a terrorist-loving president.

    :wha:

You're going to have a hard time selling that baloney. McCain could have gotten out of the Hanoi "Hilton" POW camp four years earlier than he did, if he had wanted to. The North Vietnamese offered him his freedom but McCain upheld the unwritten credo of all US servicemen: "First one in, first one out." Since McCain had been imprisoned by the NVA later than many of his fellow POWs, he would not leave before any of them did.

He stayed in line and asked no special favors, though the North Vietnamese tempted him many times, and then even beat him unmercifully when he rebuffed their temptations. Which is even more admirable when you consider the severe extent of his injuries plus the fact that he got virtually zero medical aid while he was imprisoned.

So when the American people look at who Barack Obama has befriended and even followed in his life, and who John McCain has been loyal to, there is simply no comparison. Obama has had some very dangerous associates in his life time. Not only these two completely unrepentent America-born terrorists, Ayers and Dorhn, but his pastor of 20 years, the man Obama calls "uncle", Jeremiah Wright: "God bless America??? NO!! God DAMN America!!!"

Meanwhile, there are a number of right wingers who call him Songbird:

YouTube - Vietnam Veterans Against John "Songbird" McCain

And let's consider his record: lost 4 planes before entering combat, flew 20 hours of combat missions, then got shot down and became a POW where he made propaganda tapes for the enemy, then signed a confession to get out of Vietnam. Thirty years later he led the drive for peace with the Vietnamese, even at the expense of the MIAs.

This smacks so much of a lame attempt to "Swiftboat" John McCain, as some truly patriotic Americans did in scuttling John Kerry's failed attempt at the presidency 4 years ago. Totally lacking in originality, not mention it misrepresents the facts. He flew well over 20 combat missions -- means on at least 20 different separate occasions he put his life at risk by engaging the enemy in time of war. So those "20 hours" of combat missions were all like 20 hours of as sitting duck in a shooting gallery. Could YOU do that??

John McCain's life record speaks for itself, as does Barack Obama's. The American people will judge the man John McCain as to whether he is worthy to be their president, and they will consider Barack Obama by the exact same criteria. The American people will decide who is more worthy than the other. I am confident of that.

Yes, McCain's record speaks for itself: adulter, womanizer, songbird.

    #15 Jersey

I read the Chicago Tribune everyday. On page two, there is a columnist by the name of John Kass, who goes after everyone regardless of political party. Mayor Daley is his favorite target. Kass not only offers his opinion, but backs it up with hard facts. He has rattled Obama's cage a few times (house purchase) but has never printed anything close to what the right-wing members here have stated as the God's honest truth. Until Kass or a reputable person comes forward with an article linking Obama with wrongdoing, its just politics as usual.

This is one of those things that the more times you say it, the more of a possibility it will be true.. even though time and time again it has shown that it has no legs.. some of the sheeple will believe it, but many will remain skeptical.

I wasn't there to see how the love-fest started, who blew the first kiss -- maybe you WERE and could shed light on it -- but the end result is the same no matter who made the first move: Obama sat on this foundation which took public money and funneled it into sweet heart deals of no public value for comrades of Ayers, Dorhn, Saul Alinsky, and many other unsavory characters. Not a good sense of judgment on Obama's part, and most Americans are not going to like knowing about it, either.

Then you did not read the article, instead you choose to hang on to convenient right wing talking points.. each time you post you show how ignorant you really are.. you do not have a clue, but keep posting your stuff over and over again.. it reinforces your belief system, but does little else.

Well the reason I'm here on this board is to gain from the knowledge and expertise of those who are better informed or who have a different take on worldly affairs than I do -- and I have read the article, and it has nothing new that I did not already know. Instead of giving me facts to enlighten me or point out any error in my ways, you choose to get personal. What does that say about you??

Obama is a close friend of William Ayers; they served for years together on the board of the Annenburg Fund that distributed some many millions of dollars to some very questionable causes, many to pet projects endorsed by Ayers. So, how Obama and Ayers got together is immaterial. They are/were friendly -- it would certainly seem -- because they think alike. William Ayers is a domestic terrorist. That's a fact. Obama befriended Ayers. Obama can say now for the media: "What Ayers did years ago was 'despicable', but remember Obama stood up for Jeremiah Wright before he threw Wright under the bus. And Ayers, "re-habilitated" as he is (?? yes, some are skeptical, all right), says, "I only wish I could have done more (terrorist bombings)."

The American people can draw their own conclusions.

Once again you spout convenient right wing talking points, and show you did not read the article.. but I guess that works for you..there is absolutely no proof that he is a "close friend".. only in your mind with the mindset that if you say it over and over again it will become believable.

Somebody does not chair a $500 million foundation, making decisions, suggestions, recommendations, etc., without understanding the thinking of all those on that board of directors; so clearly Obama got to know Ayers very well, we can be sure.

No one in their right mind is going to expect the liberal/left New York Times -- a paper that ALWAYS endorses the Democrat candidate for president, and a paper who has already shown a clear bias AGAINST the candidacy of John McCain -- to send Woodward and Bernstein to go under the rocks and into the trash cans to find out all there is to know about Obama and Ayers, Dorhn, Alinsky and Jeremiah Wright. The NYTimes is not about to expose those they endorse!!! Duh-h.

Please give the American voter a little credit for political awareness, at least !!

There is no proof of this, but hang on to it.. you choose to want to believe it.. the reality is, and I have explained this before in a grant this large, there is a board that oversees the grant and an operations piece.. the board are the policy and inspirational piece and often provide legitimization of the function of the organization, while the operations people carry out the mission as defined by the board.. I have spent my whole life in non profits as a consultant and employee.. in most instances all I know about boards are we should treat them with respect and don't ruffle their feathers.. I know who they are that is pretty much it.

Well, you've explained the relationship between boards and the operators -- a public "thank you" for that -- but you still have not proven that Obama and Ayers were not close friends or associates. Much verbiage has been generated to deny Ayer's connection with Obama.... but something tells me -- my Spidey Sense again -- that there is more to this relationship than Obama is telling us. I don't mean to doubt the guy, but ... verify, THEN trust especially when it comes to selecting the leader of the world.

But you contended as they were both involved with the Anenberg grant they somehow became close friends.. there are no indicators of this, but hang on to and post the same thing 10 or 11 more times.. based on the theory the more times you post it, the more believable it becomes..

Your spidey sense is an idiotic barometer of what is true or not..
