This crap is getting absolutely ridiculous:
Y! SPORTS
Okay granted, they aren't really saying they want a new stadium, but I figured it was easier to put that in the subject line than "want $700 million in taxpayer-funded upgrades."
For God's sake, that stadium is EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD. I thought it was ridiculous when the Falcons demanded a new stadium...
For those of you keeping track, here's the rundown:
1) The St. Louis Cardinals demand a new stadium, don't get one, and move to Phoenix/Arizona.
2) The Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals don't get their promised new stadium because the whole thing was to be funded by money that disappeared in the "savings and loan" scandal of the late '80s.
3) The Los Angeles Rams demand a new stadium, don't get one, and move to St. Louis, which builds them a brand new domed stadium.
4) The now just Arizona Cardinals threaten to move unless they get a new stadium, even though the only games they sell out anyway are when the Cowboys are in town.
5) The NFL tries like hell to put the 32nd team in Los Angeles, only to give up and put it in Houston instead when it becomes clear L.A. can't build a stadium.
6) The Arizona Cardinals get their new stadium, taking them out of the running to move to L.A. (which was the most logical conclusion to this mess IMHO.)
Thank God for Bob Kraft, the one NFL owner who was willing to put his money where his mouth is and build his own stadium.
