To all the veterans and to those currently serving in the military - your sacrifices are not unnoticed and your courage is, as always, inspirational.

    Thank you.

    HERE DEAD WE LIE
    Here dead we lie
    Because we did not choose
To live and shame the land
    From which we sprung.
    Life, to be sure,
    Is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

Great post, thanks. I second these sentiments. It's easy for all of us to say we support the troops, but I encourage everyone here to visit a veteran's rest home, give to a veteran's charity, etc. Visiting the local vets rest home is always sad at first, but they appreciate so, so much - you can't imagine.

    Thank you veterans!

I have a friend at work (hard as that may be to believe) He is an immigrant (legal btw) from the Dominican Republic. His cousin was a MArine, he had told me about his cousin being deployed to Afghanistan and how proud he was of him.

His cousin was killed while on foot patrol by an IED last month. There are a lot of people putting their lives on the line for us every day.

I'd like to say this also. My father served in Vietnam, and needless to say, his experiences there still shape his life. My dad is my hero, and he is the one who has personally showed me just how much we need to care for our veterans (beyond putting stickers on our car).

    Thanks Dad!

Yep..thanks, Dad, from me, too. And also a thank you to my Uncle Robert whose plane disappeared in 1943 somewhere over the ocean and whose remains have never been found. Thanks to my grandmother as well, who gave and lost the most precious resource a mother has to give.

Thank you to Steve and all the rest of my son's friends who are currently in the military both here at home and in Afghanistan - and thanks most of all to those friends and classmates of their's who died in Iraq and Afghanistan and to their families. also.

A shout out once again to Mr. Frank Woodruff Buckles, America's last doughboy.
Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. We would not be where we are today without you.

One of the best poems of all time. Thank you to all of our brave men and women who have fought or are fighting for our freedom. I think it's also important to remember their families...
