SEEKING THE RIGHT WR COMBINATION
The New England Patriots used eight combinations of wide receivers this season trying to make up for the loss of past Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch and David Givens, the team's leading receivers for most of the previous three years.

Eight wide receivers were used: Reche Caldwell (16 games), Troy Brown (16), Doug Gabriel (12), Chad Jackson (12), Jabar Gafney (11), Kelvin Kight (4) and Brandon Childress (2). They accounted for 15 of the team's 46 touchdowns (32.6%).

WAS GABRIEL STILL WITH THE TEAM FOR GAMES 12 & 13?????

Doug Gabriel was released December 12 which was after the second Miami game which left three games remaining.

one can always count on CHB for -ve commentary on the local teams by stating the obvious in a +ve column

Gostkowski was at least adequate in converting 20 of 26 regular-season field-goal attempts. He possesses a stronger leg than Vinatieri to consistently help the Patriots in the battle for field position. Yet how will he react to an all-or-nothing kick his predecessor nailed with stunning regularity?

"You can't simulate what he's going to come up against and what Vinatieri did," says Dan Shaughnessy, a Boston Globe columnist.
