For those who still don't get it. Kraft apologized for a reason. It wasn't for dating her. It was for filming something that could easily be perceived as offensive, because of the language, never realizing that it might land on youtube and go viral... He apologized because he demands accountability from those who work for him and would have expected the same from them had they embarassed his franchise. Not to mention that he'd caution them to be more careful and aware of the situation in the future - as he did Gronk.
That said, maybe the lovely Linda has a gal pal she could do the franchise a solid and more appropriately hook him up with...
First of all, let me be sure that we're talking about the same thing. As far as I know, this is the extent of the "apology" that Mr. Kraft issued: “I tried to help Ricki prepare an audition tape for an upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson comedy by reading Wilson’s lines. I never intended that it would be made public and I regret that it has. I think we can all agree that Owen Wilson has nothing to worry about. I am going to stick to my day job.”
If you're talking about a more comprehensive "apology" please correct me and send me a link.
That said, I don't see how Mr. Kraft "embarrassed his franchise."
The tape embarrassed him, no doubt. He looks silly. He did something that he, quite incorrectly, assumed would not be made public and for which he now expressed his "regret."
In making that assumption, he exercised bad judgment...uncharacteristically bad judgment. So bad that it suggests that someone close to him might want to sit him down and have a talk with him about his feelings as the anniversary of his beloved wife's death approaches.
But, what does this have to do with the "franchise" or, for that matter, with any of us?
He's a rich guy who tried to help his girlfriend get a part in a show.
The fact that I think that he, as a famous billionaire, could do a lot better in trophy GF's doesn't matter. The fact that a sophisticated guy was naive about the value such a tape would have to someone who would want to exploit it, is unfortunate indeed, but also just doesn't matter to anyone but those directly affected by the result.
Like a lot of guys, he let the wrong "head" do his thinking for him.
What does that have to do with the "franchise" or any of us?
I think it's easy for us to get over-invested in people we like to call "Bob" and "Bill" and "Tommy."
But, "Bob" is "Mr. Kraft" to all but a handful of people; "Bill" is "Coach" or "Mr. Belichick" to all but his friends and the inner circle in Foxboro; Tom Brady of Brentwood, Manhattan and Brookline is "Tommy" only to people who have known him for decades.
I watched the video and just felt bad for a guy making a fool of himself over a hot bod at the age of 71, with the grief of his loss of his beloved wife still fresh in his spirit. I wondered how his kids would feel and whether he'd talked it through with them. I wondered how close friends of Mrs. Kraft would feel about it. But, that's about it. Family and close friends are the only ones to whom Mr. Kraft owes any sort of explanation for any of this.
But I never felt he had done anything that affected me or the team for which I like to cheer on Sundays.
