.... all I'm hearing from the national media is about the Colts injuries coming into this game. Yet I haven't heard a single thought, even from the local guys, about the fact that 2/5th of our starting OL is likely to be out this week...against the best pass rush we will see all season. AND that the 2 guys replacing them are a rookie LT starting his 3rd game and a former practice squader who will be starting his first game EVER in the NFL. Nor have I heard much nationally about the fact we have gone 3 weeks without half our RB corps, or the other sundry injuries we've had (like Green, Edelman, Wheately, etc)

Granted the Colts HAVE been hit hard, but over the years when the Pats have had similar big hits, it was rarely mentioned as a possible reason for a loss. To the Colts credit they don't seem to using it, but their sycophants in the media certainly have.

BTW- anyone else worried about Volmer and Connolly having to start this game. I'd be a lot less worried if it was a home game, but it isn't.

    Re: Not for nuthin', but.....

I was thinking the very same thing watching NFL live last night... and the NFLN. None of these guys have said a word about the Pats injuries. Every team has injuries I don't understand why all they have been talking about is the Colts banged up DB's. They seemed to do just fine last week against a good Texans passing game. I'm pretty sure Bob Sanders has missed more games than he has played the past 3 seasons yet the Colts still win 11 or 12 games every year. As BB would say the next guy in line just needs to "Do your job"... Especially with these two teams that have great depth, I think the injuries are a wash.

I heard Schlereth (sp?) mention that the matchup of the game was going to be Vollmer vs Freeney, which I agree with. Aside from that I havent heard a single thing about Koppen, or the O-line in general.

    Perhaps
    1) 2/5 of our starting OL won't be out.
    2) We might not notice if Light is out.

Do you really believe that the patriots current injury situation is worse than that of the colts?

I agree with you 100% the best part is the secondary that will be playing against you guys have played more games this season then the guys that will be out.

Yet when the ex DMVP is out it is a good story. I love the fact that the talking heads say that the Colts will be missing Bob Sanders and Marlin Jackson like it will be a new thing.

Granted, would these guys help us, yes but the guys in there have been playing all year for us, so playing with Bob and Marlin will be nothing new.

I know we on the Colts board are really interested in Koppin's(Sp?) status and Volmer(sp?) at LT, This is going to be as big a test for him as he may see Ever and just as big a task as it will be for Powers to go against Moss.

So many story lines in this game this year, much more then Just TB v PM.

The media is used to seeing Belichick put anyone in any position as a replacement to a starter and that player usually performs admirably so its not such a shock as is the mess of a secondary that has suddenly befuddled the Colts....big difference IMO

As far as compared to the Colts DB's being out? Yes I do. Are you comparing losing your starting LT, and your starting center, to losing your starting safety and a CB? C'mon man. These guys are going to be playing on the road, against one of the best defensive lines when generating a pass rush in the NFL.

Let the media start making excuses or load up the fail boat for us. Nothings changed. The pats should be use to it. As for Koppen, I hope he's healthy enough to start, but the media should still be mentioning it. Oh well. **** em!

I'm actually not worried about Vollmer. I say Freeney is a non-factor. I am worried about Koppen being out. Connelly did a good job though against Miami, but still. A little worried about that.

I refuse to hear any injury excuses from the media anybody. Do any of them remember 2004 where we didn't have Ty Law, Tyrone Poole, or Richard Seymour for most of the playoffs and still won it all? Or twice setting records for having the most different starters during the course of a season?

Besides, how is it an issue that Bob Sanders is hurt. That's like every other week

The only reason I can think of as to why more is being made of the Colts' injuries is the fact they've had players go on injured reserve. When a player goes on IR it becomes newsworthy and a short column is created, but when a player simply misses some time due to an injury about the only time it is mentioned by the national media is if the player is a QB, RB, WR or TE - i.e., if that player's absence affects fantasy football.

The other thing is people outside of Indy recognize Bob Sanders' name; how many people outside of New England recognize Dan Koppen's name? The national media isn't going to talk about relatively unknown lineman because they don't want to risk losing the interest of their core audience, the casual fan.
