I know about a quarter of the population wants the U.S. to stay the same (afraid of the unknown?) but it ranks thirteenth (13) in the world as far as best places to live. That socialist country Norway is first.

And it didn't fall to 13 in the lst 9 months if your wondering.

Norway is best place to live, China moves up: UN - Yahoo! News

PARIS (AFP) – Norway takes the number one spot in the annual United Nations human development index released Monday but China has made the biggest strides in improving the well-being of its citizens.

The index compiled by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) ranks 182 countries based on such criteria as life expectancy, literacy, school enrolment and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.

Norway, Australia and Iceland took the first three spots while Niger ranks at the very bottom, just below Afghanistan.

Ever consider than when you live in the middle of nowhere, it's not your guns keeping 'em at bay?

I don't think they'll be allowed over the bridge. I'm sure on the whole Uncle Teddy would be proud to call it home.

I think the U.S. could be tweaked a little and be right back at #1. For me, I've always believed if you have the right to representation (lawyer) then you should have your health as well. Having the best health care would be an area which would leapfrog the U.S. back to the top. Of course, some may disagree with that..............
Speaking of being off topic. What's the best state to live in the U.S.?

    Despite your dire ranking......

What is truly strange flex are those Americans who actually enjoy spreading news like this. I see Americans everyday who for some EXTREMELY strange reason, like to share news like this.

Yup, there are those who like to share news like this and then just sit back and wait for the right to respond. My question is, "Why does anyone like to share such news?" It's sad and it's inexcuseable...

Now, it you want to discuss some REAL facts, then let's talk about why the U.S.A. has by FAR the highest demand for emmigration of any nation on earth? Even if we EXCLUDE illegal immigrants, no nation on earth matches the USA on the number who immigrate to our shores each year.

The quality of life in any given nation is relative to many things. If they must rank quality of life, then do it by "Size-Class". We've discussed this tired old issue before on this board. If you want to compare a tiny, sparsely populated FROZEN nation to ours, then go ahead, but it's fool-hardy at best.

So to anyone on this site who has endorsed this perspective as something worth sharing.....get back to the drawing board or better yet, move to Norway.

Flex, this is the most ridiculous thing you've ever posted here. And I really wish your allies would be smarter than to jump on board with you in the false assertiion that people don't like and don't want to live in the US.

So when are all youz guys moving to a winter wonderland?:D

Scout, don't be so disappointed. If we were able to poll every citizen on earth as to where they want to live other than their own country, I guarantee the US would be #1....and Flex, PFiVA or anyone else knows this to be true.:cool:

Actually, if you want to discuss "REAL" facts you'd be better off checking before spouting.

The USA does not, by far (or by any other stretch of the imagination) have the higest rate of immigration of any other nation on earth.

The USA, per capita, is Number EIGHT on the list of countries with attracting perspective citizens from elsewhere.

Right behind (in descending order) Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Opps. Still wanna talk about it?

Apples and oranges, there are more people seeking to move into the US, the other countries you cite are far smaller, even on a per capita basis if you included illegals I bet the US would be the highest.

    Still wanna talk about it?

Who the hell is talking about "per capita"? Let's talk total number of people who apply to come here AND while we're at it, let's add the number of illegal immigrants who obviously come here because it's the place they WANT to live.

Per capita? :confused2: Use your intelligence and review the countries on that list. They are all FREEZING cold countries. Have you ever looked at crime fact in the US? They dramatically DECLINE when winter comes....thus cold countries = low crime rate. Therefore, if the US was colder, we'd have a much, much lower crime rate. Just like your apples-to-apples "per capita" comaparison is.

here's another fact. Africans almost NEVER choose to immigrate to a cold country....add any warm climate nation and you'd see that it's citizens don't emmigrate to cold nations.

Hey everyone!!! Did you know that more people want to live in small, stress-free countries than in large, high-stress countries? Countries that never go to war or rarely volunteer to help in world peace-keeping efforts (i.e. pending Iranian situation)....Gee, that's just genius!

If you want to use per capita, then you're endorsing an apples to apples comparison. Therefor, compare the US to other large industrialized nations.

IF Norway or Canada bordered Mexico, then they would be hands down #1... it has an awful lot to do with geography and accessibility...
