Good kid, works hard, runs hard. Doesn't put on a 'river dance' behind the line, just hits the hole hard the second it opens up and runs with some power and determination. Perhaps most importantly - he's HEALTHY. Which is very valuable considering the fragile health of the other Pats RBs. Ben is also averaging a very respectable 4.6 ypc. BJGE's role is only going to grow in this offense. And I congratulate him for coming this far as a UDFA.

I think most people have noticed...

Sunday is a big test. Hope he does well.

Really? You wouldn't know that by the lack of chatter concerning BJGE. Heck Price generates more comments and he doesn't even make the active 45 roster.

BJGE's growth is going to be a big factor in the success of the Pats offense and I think he deserves a little recognition. He has been quietly doing what's been asked of him. I don't think we will be running too into the teeth of a strong Ravens run D on Sunday so don't expect huge numbers. He just needs to run enough to keep that D honest.

Nothing against BJ, he's played better than OK lately, but a five and a half foot UDFA looks like our #2, so It's not like he beat out a lot of competition. Hopefully Taylor gets back soon and we have an adequate running game with Woodhead picking up some of the Faulk role.

Morris really looks like toast to me, hope I'm wrong.

BJGE is a 5ft11 UDFA! So good going from both of them :)

Yeah he has done well and I like Lawfirm. I like to see a udfa make it. It has to be said though that the big difference in the running game is the run blocking and not the RBs.

I think people have noticed but that most aren't ready to celebrate about it just yet. Like everybody on this board, I'm pulling for him to fill the role as well as have the job. You go, Ben Jarvis!

From the beginning, he had a lot of detractors who felt he was a waste of a Round 1 pick and were very vocal about it here. A lot of other folks, myself included, thought he deserved more patience, but I have to admit that he never really came through and we kind of got tired of waiting for his elusive "break out" year, given the hype that surrounded him at Draft time. In the end, most of us felt that it was the best thing to get rid of him. I don't think you'll find many folks here who wish he were back.

One could say that Green-Ellis has climbed the depth chart mountain. One could also say that others have fallen off. Belichick gave up on Maroney after "the fumble". Faulk is on IR. Taylor has been injured a couple of times. And Morris is being held together with velcro and duct tape.

Yes, I'm glad the we have Green-Ellis. But somehow, I don't think nfl DC's need to set up special defensive schemes to stop the might Ben-Jarvis.

And yes, I am one who wanted to bring in a JAG backup running back after the draft.

I think our running game has been doing what's been asked of them for years. We've continuously had a competitively effective run game compared to the top 16 passing teams and I expect that to continue. I don't expect BJGE to come close to Dillon circa 04 but providing effective running is clearly something the coaches have confidence in.

it's not a case of players falling off i think Law firm made it himself.

and I love the fact that the nickname Lawfirm started here (atl east i saw it here first) has caught on and has been on national programs and columns

I noticed this. I also knew Fred Taylor was on the team w/o a thread pointing it out.

    I watch games.

I'm hoping he does well also. It will be a true test for him against the Ravens defense. I'm looking forward to seeing how the OL holds up as well.

Maroney was an enigma. He was fine his rookie season, but he regressed for a couple of seasons. I think injury played a part. I was one of his biggest critics when he played poorly. His vision (ability to run to open space) at times was terrible. I thought he played pretty well last year. I thought he ran with speed and power once he broke the line of scrimmage. He punished defensive backs when he made it to the second level. I tried to find a link of a clip when he blew up Kerry Rhodes last year, but I couldn't find one.

Here is a pretty good highlight film of a playoff game against SD. Probably one of Maroney's best game as a Patriot.

I have liked BJ for a couple of years. He looks like a reliable back with good strength and he sees openings and blocks well. It is difficult to know what his potential is, but he does not appear to have any unusual skills. He lacks outstanding speed or receiving skills, and is not a devastating straight ahead power back. I don't see him breaking many runs, and I don't think he is as talented as any of the backs who we won championships with. With Maroney in Denver, and Taylor and Morris in the twilight of their NFL careers, RB is the weak link in this offense, and I would be surprised if we don't see several new faces at the position in 2011 despite the glaring deficiencies on defense.

I think that many people have noticed that BJGE is the Pats starting RB with Fred Taylor not being healthy.

That being said, yes, Lawfirm is running well, but it also seems that the O-line has been more consistent in their run blocking the last 2 games. As others have mentioned, though, the Ravens will be a test. Hopefully, the Pats can do something similar and run the ball consistently, opening the passing game up for Brady.

From the breakdowns I've noticed a big change in the OL's blocking attitude. It's pretty clear they love blocking for BJGE because they know he's hard-nosed and won't quit on a play.
