I hate Goodell as much as anyone, and probably more than most, but maybe the criteria for the summer internship program is different today than it was 30 years ago? Besides, the federal government usually doesn't get involved if someone lies on their resume. Lying on your resume will usually get you fired, but it isn't exactly a federal offense.

I think the best avenue to get Goodell is to focus on the lies that came from him and his office during this whole deflategate nonsense. It fits the textbook definition of defamation, and also creates unfair labor practices when you take away an innocent man's ability to earn his living. Those are areas that the government usually gets involved into.

My absolute best case (but still reasonably realistic) scenario is that somehow someone uncovers a communication from Goodell's office giving Wells his marching orders. If it could ever be proven that the investigation was not truly independent, then THAT would be a story.

Have contended from the onset of this that when the NFL released information to Kravitz in the middle of the night and then to Mort late at night they could not comprehend the unintended consequences of that information being released.. they could not envision that this information became this much of a brouhaha...

The NFL lost control of this early on, and after the Rice/Hardy/Petersons fiasco's they had a need to do something to show they were an "arbitrator" of justice for all the "roses and lollipops" that inundate the NFL..

Since that happened there has been no evidence that Goodell has shown any modicum of competence in dealing with this event.. it is and was no big deal... no bigger than Favre photographing his "junk" and refusing to turn over his cell phone..

My final rant is that if Brady/McNally and Jeremski were the alleged conspirators and they have Jeremski and McNally's cell phones, why do they need Brady's??? Except they want to fundraise by selling stuff to TMZ...

I shouldn't be, but I'm still surprised that the NFL using a "repeat offender" qualification passed through the media and most non-Patriots fans without question since the league has never applied this standard to a team before.

It's not that there weren't other repeat offenders, though. The Jets would meet this standard, considering the infractions they were fined for plus the multiple tampering accusations leveled against them. When it was determined that they actually tampered with Revis, where was the repeat offender penalty? It was never even mentioned. On top of that, the Jets received a more lenient penalty than other teams that had been punished for tampering.

I thought the Saints players were set up and I thought Goodell was a POS from the start, especially barring Payton from coaching for a year...I stated right here on this board in a post that the whole thing would end up in federal court and was viciously attacked by numerous members (and former members who have now disappeared). When every single thought I put forth was eventually proven out, the goal posts shifted to "Goodell makes billions for the owners so you are WRONG ,Joker...he's the best thing that ever happened to pro football!!"...Yeah...blah blah blah...

NFL Summer Internship Program participants have the opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving an unmatched, behind-the-scenes learning experience. Though interns work within specific departments, they are able to explore all aspects of the business of professional football through speaker presentations, mentoring relationships and networking opportunities.

Selected applicants are placed within the NFL based on interest, experience, academic coursework, and the NFL's business needs. Past assignments at the League Office have included the following departments: Communications & Public Affairs, Community Affairs, Consumer Products, Events, Finance & Accounting, Football Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Internal Audit, International, Labor & Legal, Marketing & Sales, and Media. The program starts in early June and lasts approximately 8-9 weeks.

Please note that is program is only open to undergraduate juniors students with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and law students (for the Legal Internships) in the top half of their class.

How can Roger Goodell state in his university bio that he landed a three-month internship in Commissioner Pete Rozelle’s office just a year out of college when the NFL states that it only accepts JUNIORS in college with a 3.0 GPA??? HOW is this possible??? The answer is, it is NOT POSSIBLE...GOODELL IS LYING!!!

My ultimate goal is to get an established HISTORY OF LIES beginning at the start of his "career" that HIGHLIGHT why NO ONE should ever believe a word out of his mouth. I'm just a fan. I have limited investigative avenues I can pursue. The feds have UMLIMITED options and far far better investigators than some "drunk" Joker writing on a message board to rip open this rotten can of worms. That is why I continue to bang the drums about a RICO investigation into the entire structure of the NFL as it is currently constituted, going back to the genesis in 2006...the hiring of Roger "The Liar" Goodell.

People are shortsighted. They don't get that what the league is doing to Brady and the Patriots could be done to another team. Some owners are saying, we got slammed by Goodell in the past (like Dallas and Washington for spending in an uncapped year or Bountygate) and now it is payback to see another team get it. Other owners are just happy the Pats are being punished and not realizing they could end up getting a similiar unjust punishment in the future. Fans around the league just hate the Pats and are happy they are being punished no matter if it is fair or not.
