Imus will no longer be televised on MSNBC. This has got to be the biggest over reaction in media history.

    #61 Jersey

I personally don't care either way about Imus, but I agree that this PC society of ours has spun out of control. What's worse is that the women's basektball team he insulted is making hay out of it on the recruiting circuit.

The company that fired him is privately owned. Don't private companies have some rights? I know that these giants corporations don't have a clear human face; but somewhere back there are a million or more stock holders who just wanna retire, or put their kids through college, or heaven forbid:rolleyes: get rich on their investment in MSNBC. Don't they have any say in who they employ?

Who's going to raise the money for SIDS, kids with cancer and sickle cell anemia when he gets fired from CBS?

Think Rev. Al will? Al Roker? Think MSNBC will take over and have some of their talking heads donate some of their (time) to host it?

That's about all I care about in this tawdry tale.

Ah yes, pity the poor white man. Income, crime stats, life span, health/insured status, and of course, raw numbers all favor him, but he can't get a break. I feel for us, my brother.

I also stand 100% behind your belief that every bigot in America has a right to an eight-figure income earned by abusing groups and individuals, whether on the basis of personality, gender, race, or other factors.

It's a RIGHT I tell you! A contract with a network is a RIGHT! It's in the CONSTITUTION!

Reality check, dude. They didn't put him in jail. They fired him. There's a difference. You do not have a RIGHT to a job with a corporation. If I spewed 10 minutes' worth of an Imus or Howard Stern monolog where I work, I'd get fired too. Most people would.

You can yammer like that as much as you want, and not go to jail. That's all the farkin constitution guarantees you, in terms of legal protection. A corporation can set policies that go beyond the law for its employees.

Agreed, this is more about loosing sponsors than what he actually said, he is no longer generating a profit for the network. It is too bad about not being able to raise money for kids, otoh there is no reason he cannot continue doing this if he wants to.. imo he is just another panderer in a long line of panderers. He is also over the hill, his listening audience is shrinking and he should have been booted a long time ago. If he had huge ratings, such as Rush or O"Reilly they would not have dropped him.
