I've said it before and I will say it again... Obama loves to treat the media like crap, but like an abused wife, they just keep crawling back to him for more.

Could someone please tell me there is another side to this story? I can only imagine the crapstorm if Bush were in the White House when this happened.

Most transparent White House ever... - Ben Smith - POLITICO.com

Police chased reporters away from the White House and closed Lafayette Park today in response to a gay rights protest in which several service members in full uniform handcuffed themselves to the White House gate to protest "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

People who have covered the White House for years tell me that's an extremely unusual thing to do in an area that regularly features protests.

They get away with it in part because of the Obamabots ... the foot soldiers who defend everything they do. We have a few here ... they will be active in this thread. Make sure you have all the statistical data to back up your claim. If Bush did this even once ... or even 1/2 of once ... it will be okay.

I saw the story earlier .... I was too busy to defend another thread today ... glad you posted it.

Obama did this or did the Park Police do this orSecret Service did this????

This is regular procedure when the white house grounds are considered to be breached, the line is the fence that goes around the white house, with so many people and not being able to confirm their identity, the Secret Service has to secure the area. This has everything to do with security of the WH. Reporters have been asked to leave before if an incident is happening, so saying they haven't is just not true.

FWIW the press should be treated like crap, because they are just a little lower than whale shyt.. all of a sudden you want to deify the press in a quest to be oppositional to Obama, another WTF moment brought to you by the right.

Have any of you been to DC lately??? the layers of security have increased exponentially since 9/11.. shudder to think of the legacy costs of all of this .. you can look around and see more security than imaginable, and that is what you do see.. the hall mark of good security is what you do not see...

People whine about him leaving the White House without the press, who gives a damn.. the press are pandered to enough.. find something real to whine about.

FYI Obama was in LA yesterday... so suspect that the whole premise is somewhat disengenuous...

BTW did you read where a protester at the former head shenanigan expert, Karl Rove, had protestors arrested at one of his speeches yesterday...

For what it's worth.......they let them back in. Someone forgot to put that part in their story.

Another small point - the reporters weren't "kicked out of the park." They had been restricted to within 100 ft. of the demonstrators and were then moved another 200 feet back before being allowed to approach again.

It also seems confusing as to who decided to move them in the first place. Knowing that area, I'd say it had to be Park Police. I don't think anyone else has the authority to do so.

In a disturbing wrinkle, the police closed off the scene to the press for a time, and Mediaite has confirmed that this included White House reporters.

Eventually, the police allowed reporters back on the scene. When CBS News’ Mark Knoller saw that the police had pushed the press back, he interceded. Knoller tells Mediaite:

No big deal. It seemed ridiculous to me that credentialed press was held half-way deep in Lafayette Park for a peaceful event at the WH fenceline. So I pointed out my concern to a US Park Police officer, and after a time, he phoned someone, likely his superior, and then escorted credentialed press to the fenceline for better coverage of the protest and arrests.

At first the officer refused, saying it was US Park Police procedure. I asked him to contact his superior so I might deliver my objection higher up the chain of the command. And within a few minutes, after he made a cell phone call, he escorted credential press right to the fenceline. I thanked the officer for his effort on our behalf.

White House Press Corps Shut Out By DADT Protest; Mark Knoller Intercedes | Mediaite

CBS has some pretty good video of the arrest - which seems to bear out the story that the press was allowed to get fairly close by the end of the whole thing.

    Good Work For The Gays
The Homosexuals have more balls than the phony Bush Hater Anti War Movement, will this attitude now grow and shame Sean Penn and The Susan Sarandon gang into finally giving Obama some of the same treatment they gave Bush.
Nothing has changed since Bush left, things have become far worse, Free America is being destroyed......

Hey guyz, don't rain on Wolfpack's latest attempt to crap on Obama. You just have to keep in mind that there is nothing -- literally nothing -- bad that can happen that can't be blamed on the man.

So there was a nonviolent demonstration going on in front of the White House, and the press was restricted to a distance of 200 feet - but only for part of the demonstration. And you're comfortable with this..?!?

When the press is not allowed to cover a nonviolent demonstration taking place in front of the White House, that is a develop that should upset us all. Feel free to get your nose out of Obama's ass any day now.

Dude, I LIVE in DC, remember? It's my kid and my husband who might be in The Pentagon railway station when someone starts shooting at the security guards there. I'm the one who nods routinely to military personnel with big-***** wicked looking guns at the subway entrances, I'm the one who's learned to pay no attention to the big black huey helicoptors that fly over my building randomly (or maybe not so randomly, depending on what threat they've gotten on any given day.) It's my family with the "escape plan" in case something happens when we're not all together. I'm the one who has to check the intenet to find out what protest group has what march planned on what route so I can adjust my time-table and my travel route accordingly. I'm the one who spends 2 hours stuck on the Beltway because some motorcade carrying some high level official is traveling the same route I am - only, for security reasons, they can keep moving and I can't.

Hell, YES, I'm comfortable with it. If a cop, any cop in DC, be they Park Police, city police, library police, Federal Police, FBI, CIA, army, navy, coast guard, marine, Alexandria, Arlington, Chevy Chase, black, white, brown, yellow or pink-polka-dotted, tells me to "move" you damn well better believe I'm going to MOVE....and quickly....and further away than they request, too. These people are trained - exceptionally well-trained, in understanding situations and in being ready for any and all occurances - if they think I need to be kept at a distance, then I believe them. They do not over-react and they do not under-react. They are fed updated information at all times and it's not their job to tell me what they've heard, it's their job to protect me - and they do a damn good job of it. If they say "move" you move - and if you're smart, you'll thank them for it.

I'm aware that you have a very tenuous grasp of facts and reality, but your claim that Obama was responsible for this event has already been thoroughly debunked.

Nice try. Better luck next time, chief.

And WTF does that have to do with a non-violent protest taking place in front of the White House?

I think you're full of crap here. This wasn't about security or any sort of imminent danger and you know it. You whine and moan about the prospect that people might have to show their ID in Arizona, but you have no problem with the Freedom of the Press being abridged during a protest that might actually reflect poorly on the administration. If a Republican was in the White House, you'd be the first one criticizing them - and I would be joining you.

How so? Because some Park Policeman said so? LMK when you want to buy some great real estate in Florida for cheap money. I have some terrific swampland I know you would be interested in.

Yes. And unless you have some concrete evidence that this was done by directive of the White House, you might as well let it go and consider doing your due diligence before starting such threads in the future, lest you continue to beclown yourself.

Once again Obama was in California.. he had nothing to do with this, keep trying Dorothy it is a long way to Kansas..

The same person who authored the original story, authored the follow up explanation... get over it.

You obviously do not have a clue to how much security is currently in place in and around the White House...

    Move on.

What does that have to do with anything? I don't think you know how the real world works.

Obama would never make such a decision personally. He simply has much bigger fish to fry. The **President** is not going to say "see those protestors over there? Get the media away from them."

But it's exactly the type of thing I wouldn't be surprised to see that motherf'er Rahm Emanuel, or one of his cronies, try and do. And if you don't think that sort of thing goes on all the time (in all administrations) then you are a fool.
