I absolutely do not understand this one. Pereira left out the fact that CLARK WAS HEAD-HUNTING on that play. The ball wasn't there and everyone knew it. That's why they threw the damn flag. Geez, we've seen fines for much lesser hits than that.

What's truly sad is that Pereira actually seems to believe the BS that comes out of his mouth.

So, apparently, illegal hits become legal ones when it's a Patriot who's on the receiving end? :enranged:

Does that BS artist still do a segment on NFLN ? I quit watching after he defended the horrible PI call against Samuel vs. Lelie in the Denver playoff game back in 2005.

I have said that before no surpises...it was not a Illegal Hit! I just hope one of our a Safety's could hit like Ryan Clark. The moral of a that none fine is the hit look pretty brutal in slow motion but not in real time or lets say with the naked eye. It was Excellent hit...i wish Ryan Clark had laid one on that Wus Ben Watson!

    Re: No Fine For Clark

OK, so the hit itself might not have been illegal according to the league. But the circumstances surrounding it are what bother me: It's clear that Clark's intention was to lay out Welker and not make a play on the ball. Isn't that a fine-able offense?

    Re: No Fine For Clark

Wilfork was fined $35K for what was determined to be a clean play on Cutler. Total BS here.

I don't root for injuries, but if Ryan Clark were to tear an ACL or something as a result of that piece of @#%)@% that passes for the football field in Pittsburgh, I would have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

    Re: No Fine For Clark

I was not a fan of the hit myself. I think it was clean in terms of the action, but as many have said, I think the intent was clear.

Anyone remember if the TBay defender was fined for a hit on Dallas Clark last season? I think he ALSO got hit pretty good this year, maybe Jax game? And no fine (IIRC).

It is a fine line, hard to tell guys they can't "hit hard", but as a player, I would tend to err on the side of, "what goes around comes around", and maybe try and pull up on that, cause I think he could have. Jack Tatum would knock my block off for that statement:eek:

If there's such a thing as karma, Mr. Tatum hasn't exactly gotten off scot-free. . . . and I have even less sympathy for him than I do for Mr. Clark.

And, BTW, I have to say that Darryl Stingley was a far better man about it than I could ever be.

    Re: No Fine For Clark

I don't think the hit was that Illegal. It was a boderline launching call and if you want to argue that fine but it was not a late hit and he legally could hit the Player at the time because it was a tipped ball.

My biggest problem with this is the BS that the NFL spewed out. They don't fine which I dont think they shuold have and they call it a legall hit but than comend the Ref for throwing the flag WTF.

It was a vicious hit but that's the NFL people are tryign to tear eachothers heads off on every play. If he did leave his feet and launch than it was illegal but otherwise I think it was a bad call. There is a reason you can hit after a tipped ball its because it is a live ball and anyone can get so you should than be allowed to stop the other team from attempting to get the ball but now the NFL says you can do that so long as you dont do it to hard because if you do it to hard wether it is illegal or not we will commend our refs.

Whats next you can't hit a RB to hard when he takes a hand off? 2 hand touch? what?

    Re: No Fine For Clark

So headhunting is legal and does not carry a fine in the NFL, just as long as you make sure you don't use your helmet? I wish we had some safeties to put this rule clarification to the test Sunday...

Even if the actual HIT was clean, the fact that it was on a defenseless receiver, after a play was over should have carried a fine.
