No doubt anymore, poor Patriots drafting has really killed this team

i dont think its that much of a stretch saying our Drafting over the past few years hasnt been great

Well, it also hasn't been nearly as bad as people say it is.

The 2007 draft is not nearly as bad as people make it since the Pats obviously hated that draft and traded away most of their higher picks. Yes, there were a lot of players selected that didn't make the team, but most were sixth and seventh round picks who had little shot of making the team in the first place.

Five of the seven selections from the 2005 draft are starting for this team right now (Mankins, Hobbs, Kazcur, Sanders, and Cassel). So that has to be considered a good draft.

The 2008 draft is shaping up to be a pretty good draft. Mayo is still the front runner for DPOY. Wheatley looks like he may be a player when healthy. Whilhite is contributing.

You can make an argument for the 2006 draft and the 2004 draft past the first round, but you can look at every team and they have had some bad drafts.

Ben (stone hands) Watson
Garrett Mills (gone)
David Thomas (Mr. mediocre).... Kevin Boss 5th round draft pick
Lawrence Maroney.... Jospeh addai anyone
Chad Jackson
Kareem Brown
Terrence Wheatley
James (the invisible man) Sanders
Clinton Oldenmeyer
Brandon (push me back) Meriweather
Ryan Claridge
Nick Kaczur (the codeine kid)
Ryan O'Calaghan (back made of glass)
Jermey Mincey (platys for Jaguars)
Justin Rogers (plays for the Cowboys)

2008 draft was a GREAT draft - dont fault Whaeatley for being injured.

Each and every loss brings out multiple posters trashing Cassel, draft, defense, offensive line, special teams, coaching / coaches, kraft, gillette stadium, foxboro, ma and the United States of America.

You forgot apple pie and puppies. :)

PRO FOOTBALL; Mr. Irrelevant Is Mr. Invisible in the N.F.L. - New York Times

But whether a seventh-rounder is selected at the end of the round or at the beginning, history shows that his chances of making an N.F.L. team are slim. In last year's draft, 48 players were picked in the seventh round, but only 15, or 31 percent, made the active roster on opening day.

In previous years, the percentage has been considerably worse, with as few as 1 in 10 seventh-rounders making the active roster.

By contrast, of the 31 players selected in the first round of the 2000 draft, 27 made the active roster, or nearly 90 percent.......If they manage to make the opening day roster, things do not necessarily improve once the season begins. Many seventh-rounders spend time on the inactive roster, practicing with the team, but not suiting up for games.

Many of the fans here have an extremely twisted notion of what constitutes successful drafting.

Of course, they also don't count if they were UDFAs. . . . on that count, the Pats have done as well as any team in the league, and quite possibly better.

DeAngelo Williams is turning out to be the back that the Pats should have taken.

Well, Kraft, the US of A, Foxboro, Gillette and the draft probably didn't have much effect today.

Now Cassel (ball control), Defense (red zone, 3rd downs), Special teams (fumble, block to the back, missed tackles) may need to raise their hand.

Every single year every single team has a "player they should have taken".

Yup because Meriweather is terrible. :singing:
