Obviously there's abuse alleged, so the kids weren't likely taken solely because of their names, but since it's under seal we don't know the exact details. That being said, as horrendous as the names may be, I don't think the state/gubmit has any business taking kids from parents, strictly because of them. Again though, we don't know what else was going on with these parents (abuse, neglect, etc.) but I thought the names presented an interesting topic none the less. Interesting in regards to whether or not they should warrant social services involvement. What say you?

TRENTON, N.J. - A state appeals court has determined that a New Jersey couple who gave their children Nazi-inspired names should not regain custody of them.

Heath and Deborah Campbell’s three small children were removed from their home by the state in January 2009.

The family drew attention after a supermarket refused to decorate a birthday cake for their son, Adolf Hitler Campbell. He and siblings JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell have been in foster care.

Sounds like there was a lot going on that we don't know about here...sounds like more than just name abuse in this case...

Having said that, these parents are obviously thoughtless idiots, there is no value in naming your children after one of the world's most hated figures. I can't imagine what it would be like to name your kid "Hitler","Satan" or "Steinbrenner"...

You are just asking them to get the snot beat out of them, until they change thier name, and disown you.

I'm sure plenty of New Yorkers might disagree with your Steinbrenner assessment ;):D

That said, it's simply attention whoring for their "cause". They knew what would happen and they did it anyway just for the attention.

As distasteful as it is for the state to take kids away for this, I wouldn't take to the streets in the parents' defense. These kids have a much better shot in life without them.

Apparently it was quite a bit more than just name abuse.

According to CBS News, the three-judge panel ruled the Campbells have more problems than a fascism fetish. Heath, 37, has never had a job because of medical and psychological problems. His wife, Deborah, 27, also has a history of mental illness and dropped out of high school in the 10th grade.

The court ruled social workers "proved the need for protective services for these children within the meaning of abuse or neglect."

Social workers started investigating the Campbells in 2009, in response to reports of domestic violence. The children were also allegedly strapped and confined for unusual amounts of time inside the house in child booster seats.

The New Jersey Star-Ledger reports investigators found the couple's bedroom windows were nailed shut, and Heath Campbell controlled the couple's car and only active cell phone.

According the newspaper, judges also considered a typo-riddled note Deborah Campbell had given to neighbors.

"If anything may happened to me please do an altops on me b/c My husband has done something to me," the letter reads. "Hes thrend to have me killed or kill me himself hes alread tried it a few times. Im afread that he might hurt my children if they are keeped in his care. He teaches my son how to kill someone at the age of 3."

Nah....According to Real World (over in the jobs thread) some of the smartest and most successful people he knows can barely read or write - which places Mrs. Campbell right up there on top in successful genius land.

Just because someone is a professor of economics at princeton, and has written books, and won the nobel prize for economics doesnt make them intelligent, or have any sort of clout. They are in fact: a "tool"

Oh dam!! And here I thought I was more like a Tea-Partier - paying attention to people and demanding accountability from them for the statements they make and the things they say.

I'm pretty sure that Ms. Campbell isn't successful -- by anybody's definition... :)

You know people who speak 100% truthfully all the time?

I mean other than Mr. PF?:p

I agree ... people should be held accountable ... but also sometimes people change their mind on an issue when they obtain more information. I said initially that:

But now I'm a little more leaning towards yeah
... the state does have a right to smack him upside the head.

You know the old saying "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"?

You ought to check in on that saying.

Classic flick! One of my all time favorites. I can't wait until my kids are old enought to see it...

"There was a time when reading wasn't just for fags. And neither was writing. People wrote books and movies. Movies with stories, that made you care about whose ass it was and why it was farting. And I believe that time can come again!"
