That's pretty interesting stuff. I'd love to know what all those abbreviations stand for though.

How does he break down the score of ZS4.910.lw?
Size, weight, 40 times are listed below and age and date of birth.
But what does 4.59eAl1 mean exactly? Does that rate what tier of speed/quickness he's in?

    #3 Jersey

Hint: the Z was probably part of Wes Welker's draft grade. ;)

Interesting that he seems to say individual workouts are more important at some positions than others. That adds context to the reports of who is or isn't being worked out.

more important if the Patriots are looking to play the player at a different position than in college...e.g. Edelperson who was a QB...tried him out as a RB and WR

    And as a returner.

Plus they had about half the coaching staff talk to him, AND they brought him in for a visit.

4.59 is the 40 time. e stands for estimated time. A/1 means Astroturf.

The whole draft process has intrigued me for a long time, this is great info.. would still love to be a fly on the wall during the draft period.. or have some scribe be present and write an article on it.

The video on Boston.com shows what appears to be the Pats 2011 draft board broken down by position (for instance, the top 3 OTs listed are Soldier, Smith and Carimi). They are too smart to let a video of their real draft board to be videotaped but I was still surprised to see this. They could have put this out there as a smokescreen.

    No Jersey Selected

played that. being on the west coast, it's my first manza-young sighting. seems like a great gal and knowledgable. the draft board order was intriguing. probably preliminary, but, intriguing. loved scoping out the rb, wr, and ot order.

I saw this on CSN last nite and had to do a double-take.

They are too smart to let their real board be shown - but at the same time, they have to put something out there, so they have to put some thought behind it. I guess they went with the perfunctory rankings, what the pundits would say. I remember seeing Jordan, Watt, Wilkerson in that order, all with grades above 8, FWIW.

So, at the very least, that is what the Patriots are OK with people thinking they think, or at least OK with people thinking that that's what they want them to think they think so is clearly not actually what they think. Did that make any sense...?

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know! Pretty fascinating. I wish we were allowed to look at these draft cards for after the draft was over. But perhaps the teams still uses them later in case another team cuts loose a free agent or waives a guy?

    Excellent

    1) They must have standards that they rate, a HOF player =9, must compare to past players because if they rated a 2011 player against a 2011 player they would never get anywhere.

    2) Wonder if they take that draft card and compare to past ratings, like last years xxx versus this years xxx, that would drive me crazy.

    3) While making his pitch, a school that came to NC's mind for a lower level school was Leheigh(sp), So he was just reviewing tape of OG: Will Rackley, Lehigh - PW, V???

4)And if that white board to left had any real data on it, all those reporters would have to sworn to secrecy, which would never happen, must be false info, huh??

ProFootballTalk got the scoop- that was not the Pats Board, but a random board made by CSN...

I wish they would show the old 2000 through 2003-2004 boards to see how they rated players but don't see that ever happening.
