The Pats are lucky in one respect, in that they don't face any teams that are coming off of a bye week when they(opponent) would be well rested.

The Steelers in contrast have a brutal stretch when they face three teams that are coming off of a bye when they face Denver in week 7, Balt in week 9 and the Jets in week #11. They are the only team to face three teams coming off a bye.

Six teams face two opponents coming off of a bye, KC (two weeks in a row weeks 5,6) Atl, TB, Den, Buff and New Orleans. The Saints face Stl and Houston in consecurtive weeks, both of who will have just had their bye week.

Seventeen teams face one opponent coming off a bye, Car, Det, chi, SD, Jets, Balt, Jax, NYG, Indy, STL, Hou, SF, PHil, GB, Clvm Oak Dallas.

Eight teams face no teams off a bye,
NE, Mia, Cinn, Tenn, Ariz, Minn,Seat,Wash..

    For what it's worth,
    Just my $0.02,

Good. Didn't the Patriots at one point in the last two years have three CONSECUTIVE games against teams coming off a bye? I'm glad to see things even out.

Playing a team coming off its bye week is one of the most under-appreciated difficulties a team faces. A lot of us here well aware of the Pats having been dealt that hand by the NFL for the last few years and while you don't read too much about it, its definately one of the ways that the NFL can make your schedule much more difficult.

But I think the NFL made up for it by giving us one of the hardest schedules I have ever seen.

I am still convinced that the league wants us to go away and they are doing everything in thier power to do it.

I just think the NFL wants to see great ratings. The Pats are one of the strongest teams year in year out. So why not match them up with another tough team to make sure that it keeps the public interested? I'd rather be a great team and have a tough schedule versus being a fan of a team like the Cardinals and having an easy schedule.

NFL doesnt try to screw Patriots by giving them a hard schedule. It just so happen that its in rotation to play NFC EAST and we did win our division last season. The schedules are not made up, they are known years in advance (minus 2 games).
Here is how it works. Each team plays 6 games in its own division, 4 games against teams in another division in the same conference (which division rotates each season), 4 games against teams in a division in a different conference (which division rotates each season) and 2 more games that are based on the teams record from last year (1st seeds play vs 2 1st seed teams).
So Pats get their 6 AFC East games, 4 AFC North games (last time we played them was 3 years ago), 4 NFC East games (last time we played them was 4 years ago) and since we were number 1 in AFC East we have to play 1 Colts and 1 Chargers.

Yes, but conspiracy theorists can still point out the manipulations of when the teams' play. Like the three games in 11 days from two years ago, or playing the Colts, Broncos, and Steelers (hypothetically) the week after they're coming out of a bye, etc.
