NFL Offseason moves which may impact the draft

Bye Bye LT

Great move for both teams IMO. After Cromartie had that big year he really hasnt shown the same last couple of years and Choice is the third back in Dallas but hes good enough to be a number number 1 or 2 in a 2 back system, he will go great with Sproles. Cromartie will have an equally talented corner across from him in Newman. Along with Jenkins the Cowboys have a very good secondary to go along with a great pass rush. Looks like a good running back will slip into the mid second;).

How about Maroney for San Diego's punter. Oh and we will throw in a 6th round pick!

Just a 6th?!? We really need a punter!

wait a minute.....We are past the trading deadline, when does it start again? I'm guessing with the new NFL year, or is it the day after the Superbowl??

I'm sure that someone is going to get in trouble for leaking this stuff via twitter.

that gives san diego the RB they need and the cowboys the play maker they need with that pass rush Cromartie, will be great.

Great Blue North Draft Report
February 7
(12:01 AM): Vick at center of Super buzz … The story that won’t go away at this weekend’s Super Bowl in Miami is that St. Louis is seriously considering trying acquiring QB Michael Vick from Philadelphia. If nothing else, several Rams’ assistant coaches have reportedly talked with their Eagles’ counterparts - remember St. Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo was a long-time assistant in Philadelphia - about Vick. St. Louis obviously isn’t going to use the #1 pick at the 2010 draft as trade bait, however, if they could acquire Vick with a package of other picks, the Rams would then be free to concentrate on other positions. Meanwhile, the Eagles will likely be looking to move Vick rather than pay him a roster bonus later this spring. And while St. Louis is rumored to be interested in Vick, they may have some competition for his services as Buffalo is also said to have some interest.

There is no way that Bush is worth 8M. nobody is going to pay him anything more than that for a PR and 3rd down rb.

Lord I feel old. Joe Panos is an agent now?

I like Jones a lot. Warrenesque, in that he can be very aggressive and violent on the field, but a thoughtful gentleman off it...until the next game...Lead-by-example type.

Choice looks like he's going to be good. He could turn into the next Micheal Turner. It's a good move for SD who can afford a loss in their strong secondary. If Dallas were to get a player you'd think it would be someone on the OL.

Top 99 Free Agents

I found this sortable ranking useful, by clicking on Position you get to see who their Top Free Agents are by position, and which ones are UFA in an uncapped season, for example:

-- Their top UFA CB is Leigh Bodden.
-- Vince Wilfork is their #1 DT.
-- Stephen Neal is their #1 UFA G.
-- The UFA "LB" who makes the most sense for NE looks like Aaron Kampman - at 30 teams will be reluctant to trust his wheels too far, but he's hitting BB's target zone.
-- Ben Watson is their top UFA TE.
-- Antonio Bryant and Kevin Walter are the top UFA WRs.

It would seem the competition for NE UFA players may be stronger than we like if these rankings reflect general NFL thinking.

Nice list, interesting Casey Hampton is the only NT also Ben Watson is the only UFA TE in the list edit whoops looking at the stupid Super 99.

Since this thread includes as much or more rumor and speculation as confirmed news this seems like the place for Combine/Pro-Day gossip:

NFL Combine: Player Preparation 2/10
- Jason Pierre-Paul has been described to us as a “sick athlete” and is expected to turn in a great combine based on what many have seen thus far. Many feel after the combine Pierre-Paul will secure himself as a top 15 pick in April’s draft- we presently rank the South Florida junior number eight on our big board. The word in Florida is Pierre-Paul has also missed a few workouts as he has spent a bit of time partying. The same has been said, but to a much larger degree, about his college teammate Jerome Murphy who is presently training with Pierre-Paul.

-----

- The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in CFL linebacker Renauld Williams for a workout on Friday of this week and insiders say the team could sign him before he leaves town. Williams played his college football at Hofstra before seeing action with four NFL clubs, including the Miami Dolphins. Williams had 59 tackles and three sacks for the Saskatchewan Roughriders this season.
