Jerry Jones and Roger Goddell were here in Austin today trying to get lawmakers in Texas to do something about cable companies and the NFL Network not coming to terms. Apparently they're also going to be appearing in Wisconsin and Indiana in the coming months to plead their case as well. Time Warner is the main cable provider here in Austin and they were flooded with "thousands of calls" when no one could see the Cowboy Packer game unless they had a dish.

Personally, I am fed up with the constant money grubbing of the league.

32 billionaires trying to fleece the entire world, at this point, all at the expense of the fans and players.

We don't need Thursday games, PERIOD.

We don't need China games or London games or Mexico games or Kalamazoo Games, PERIOD.

We don't need games on a channel which cable companies can't afford, and we don't need lawsuits to force it on people. Who the hell put the game on NFL Network? The same people that are suing the cable companies, and it certainly is not because of customer complaints. It was a dog and pony show to GENERATE customer complaints. You put the Cowboys on an obscure channel, and guess what you get? COMPLAINTS.

    TOTAL CRAP!

Then don't watch and be happy on Sunday/Monday. I DO want Thursday/Saturday games and am willing to make my TV provider choice based on that.

If Jerry Jones wants the NFL Network on cable, all he has to do is agree to what the cable companies are willing to pay. If the cable companies really want NFL Network, all they have to do is agree to what the NFL wants to earn.
Since they can't agree, they have a significant disagreement over the value of the channel.
Trying to lobby lawmakers is pathetic (although it may work if they pay the right lawmakers enough). This is business; has nothing to do with the government.

    I also like Thursday/Saturday games.

But yeah playing games out of country is ridiculous.

Well it doesn't surprise me that you would put your completely selfish interests in front of what is best for the teams, and the players health, and those millions of fans who got shafted by not being able to see the Cowboy game.

I would rather see the players stay healthy, and not see a handful of teams that are considered cash cows for the league have disadvantages over the rest of the league based on insane scheduling.

Denying fans the chance to see a popular match up just to generate heat is beyond pathetic. It shows us once again that this is all about business, and not about the fans.

Sen Kerry has also made inquiries into this mess...I hope other politicians DO look at all of this...needed since they are just gouging the consumers here...

Thursday games are ridiculous if only for the absurdly short weeks they give to one or both of the teams playing in them. If you have a Sunday game followed by a Thursday game, that only gives you three days to prepare, with no day off!

When you look at the Patriots this year, we have been yanked from time slot to time slot with ZERO regard for the team or fans.

    It is pathetic.

Show me some evidence that the non Sunday/Monday games cause more injuries.

They shafted themselves by not getting DirecTV or Dish. Most (not all, I know) can get it and no more cost than cable.

Putting more games on national TV, and also on the higher-profile 4 pm Sunday slot, is almost certainly better for more fans than not seems to me.
