    Re: NFL Games in 3D?

They're experimenting with the Chargers/Raiders game so if it screws up nobody will be watching.

Rumor has it they'll be doing the same thing next year with the entire Lions season. :D

ya, I suppose that is the only way to get anyone to watch the Raiders this year.

    funny....

but why choose a game in which the raiders are playing in order to display new tech?

I'll be curious to see how much they charge for this once they roll it out to the public. If nothing else, the NFL knows how to keep on coming up with new revenue streams.

taken from the article..."As we hear it, however, the Raiders felt a bit left out, since a screening of the game in the Bay Area would have been a great way for the organization to engender goodwill with current local sponsors, potential local sponsors, and folks who plunk down big money each year for luxury suites at home games."

or maybe a better way for the Raiders to shmooze sponsors would be to actually put a quality product on the field instead of being the worst run franchise in sports (besides the Lions)

The play will be boring enough to allow those attending to focus on the technology without the distraction of an actual football game.

I hope that the 3D technology has improved a lot... because I saw journey to the center of the earth in 3d and I wasn't all that impressed.

    Hey ALP.

You need to fix your sig.

REDD isn't on the IR. RUUD is on the IR.

Thinking about this a bit more, I question if this will catch on at all in it's present format - other than attending one time for the novelty factor. People that go out to watch a game (rather than staying at home, or attending live) for the most part are drinking and eating at a sports bar. A 3-D theatre is not set up to cater to delivering drinks and bar food to it's patrons; there are no tables, but rather rows of seats to maximize attendance. Unless the technology can be brought to sports bars, or the theatre can be easily re-configured to replicate a sports bar (tables with easy access by waitresees; bar food rather than theatre food; full liquor bar) I just don't see this concept being much of a success - regardless of how good the technology is.
