the people responsible for the online stuff realized they had outdated or wrong info up in articles etc. and changed it after the game.

    Mystery solved

OH! Thats convenient then. The NFL needs to update the video with the vice-president of officiating stating the exact same thing that was up there until 6:32 p.m then. It would make it look more believable when they point at the web monkeys and blame them for not getting it right.

Can anyone imagine how berserk the media and other fan bases would be right now if the Patriots benefitted from that call and the league changed some documentation about the rule post game?

The degree this gets minimized by the likes of Florio and King (if they even mention it) as harmless clerical housekeeping will be fun to watch.

The actual rule book did have the correct content before the game. However, the rule original was designed in the way Belichick described (players on the second level, "players not on the line of scrimmage), and this is how it was described to the coaches and fans in the video and article. So they didn't change the rule and lie about it, but they did misinform coaches and lie about it.

That's just because this is the first time a call hasn't benefited the Pats in the history of the league. Come to think of it, given the blatant bias, this clearly benefited the Pats in some way. It's the only explanation for such a BS call being called in a Pats game.

On Gost's kick there was a Jet lined up right over the snapper. That's illegal. He was also pushed into the snapper.

remember when I stated Goodell's timeline as an NFL employee?

and then it was brought up on an ESPN segment...that week, the bio was revised to show Goodell worked for the league first, THEN the Jets for a year, then BACK to the league...it is STILL the "official" Goodell timeline per the NFL offices. Of course it's total bull. They CHANGED it in an attempt to quell any suggestion of bias BY Goodell for his former employer. The revision is a LIE.

The past few seasons show that, above eveything else, this league is all about being a whore for ratings and money, at any cost without any scruples whatsoever.

It was just an article on NFL.com that changed. The official rulebook did not change. Still means that rule changed at some point so it makes sense that Belichick was confused.

    These are facts, not hypotheses:

    1. when the Patriots lost that OT game to the Jets with Cassell at QB, Ray Anderson was out in front of the Jets locker room after the game, and he was celebrating and said "I told you so!!" to Tannenbaum and other Jets admin. Boston media reported his jubilation.

    2. When it was revealed that the Patriots reported the Jets for taping the year that the NFL sent the memo out, the NFL interviewed the Jets and Mangini who said they were given permission. The Patriots said that, absolutely not, no one was given permission. The NFL said that the Jets were under that impression.

But permission to do what? Cheat? Permission to film? You don't get permission to break NFL rules. That's bizarre.

I think it's well within the lines to say the NFL and Goodell/Anderson have a soft spot for the Jets.

Because people had screenshots of the official rulebook within minutes. The thing that everybody is freaking out about is some article on NFL.com. Nothing more.

It took them only minutes to edit the NFL article as well. Plus it wasn't just they article. There is a video by an NFL official and Belichick's understanding. You don't find that least bit dubious? I'm not trying to say there is a conspiracy but somehow this rule wasn't communicated well to the coaches or anyone else for that matter.

I think its pretty screwed up for a team to lose a game based on a rule that no fan had ever heard of and even the best coach in the game didn't know.

What's sad about this is about 6 officials mis-understood the rule while belichick and some random nfl.com guy knew it exactly.
