Best day of the year for me, not a doubt about it (other than days when the Patriots win the Super Bowl, of course, I'm talking about guaranteed days).

yeah, it's really really really exciting and fun.

I'm stoked. I'll probably have a one day old infant by then too.

    re

Great analogy. It's like being a kid, seeing toys and games in commercials, and then being really happy to open them as surprises during the holiday. Of course, with BB, he'd be the kind of dad who bought an XBox 360 one year after it came out, in order to get better value :)

The NFL draft is so much better than MLB and NBA because football players stay in school longer, and gain more fan recognition, so that by the time the draft comes around, there is excitement and knowledge about the players drafted.

Whenever I find out about who the Celtics or Sox drafted, most of the time I had no idea who they were before that.

We were going to pick one of those up for our draft party too, but decided to go with Nachos instead.

Nah... seriously, congratulations! I remember watching the draft a few years back with our 3 month old asleep in my lap. :)

Now, are you talking about the draft, or are you and the Missus hoping birth a Bobby Boucher type LB? Either way, I'm with ya, but if it's the fruit of your loins you're talking about, I'd think you'd hope for a slightly higher Wonderlic. :p (I mean, the kid can't play foosball forever!)

    generally speaking....

not as a pats fan I don't really.....it's like waking up on xmas morning as a kid and hoping to find that red ryder BB gun under the tree, and finding a book on "How to buy and sell stocks" instead..........it isn't attractive, bums you out a little, but pays HUGE dividends later. That is my analogy on most of the pats drafts in recent years. All my friends who are fans of other teams, are jumping around and celebrating because their team has just signed a big name, flashy player........while BB chooses some guy that NO ONE has on their boards at all....and are sent scrambling to try to find tape on the guy and leaves.....the fan saying "what the #$% was that pick all about??".....but every year, I am more impressed with BB/SP's brilliant drafting skills and although it can kind of be a boring draft in many ways.......almost all of their picks pan out great.........GO PATS!!!!

    Congratulations, B.J.!

Your first? If so, your life will be changed forever ... if you're the diligent dad i take you to be.

Your second? Then it will make having one child ... seem like being childless.

Either way, you'll appreciate the long pauses between picks ... to catch up some of your own missing sleep.

    Fabulous, fabulous!

Watching the NFL draft is like getting a test paper back, you get to see how much you really knew.

I live for the draft...I haven't missed a draft since the drafting of Reggie Dupard (ouch) I hold up in the house that weekend every year (and once on vacation in Disney). 20+ quality hours of television. So sad I know...but I love college football and seeing who will play for my beloved Pats

That whole weekend is like a holiday weekend in my house ( for me only). My wife knows that she brings me food and drink and not to bother me.

I told her if the house was on fire to get the dogs and the valuables out but don't bother me.

Last year my daughter was pissed at me. She wanted to move out of NYC the weekend of the draft. I told her no way, I'll come down the weekend before and help her. But if she wanted to stay there that week she would have to move herself.

She moved the week before with dad's help.

Thanks so much. Actually we have a wonderful 2 yr old boy named...Brady!
Thanks for the perspective on what it's like to have 2.
Hoping to watch as much draft action as possible but there will likely be demands for Dora the Explorer...!
