Ive been saying all offseason that we didnt need to rip apart our o-line, because of one game. I'm curious to see what will happen at rt.

    nope that is definitely wrong.

and my thoughts aren't just based on the superbowl.

the Oline was disgustingly overrated last year.

    Evidence please.

How many times did Brady throw last year?
How many times was he sacked, hit, and/or, hurried?
How effecient was the offense last year?

Cheese what was I watching, they must have been way overated.

Welcome to small sample size theater.

The G-Men might have something to say about someone calling the Pats the P-Men, though. . . . [On the flip side, I'd love to see someone try that with the Colts. :D ]

I like the OL but with Neal and Kaczur in unknown situations I wouldn't put the at #1, that's for sure. Thankfully the middle to left side is a known which is the most important thing - and getting Jason Taylor out of the division helps :)

I didn't think BB needed to blow it all up because of one night when the opponent played a superb game. Big picture though, if the Pats aren't number one, who would you put at number one? I don't know. You still have to base it on 19 games as opposed to just the last one.

Surprised they still have the Jets at 31 since they added Faneca and Woody, strongly upgrading LG and upgrading RT. Plus Mangold is very good.

More patience schematically with the run game will help this line out and make them even better. When the opposing D's have to be somewhat aware of the run it will make the pass blocking even better.

I do not want to get away from the strength of the passing game, but I do want to see the run game utilized more. Maroney showed some flashes last year, it is time that he be given the chance to shine. Such success for 39 will only make 12's game that much easier. Plus, a solid run game, combined with the passing game, will make the D that much better as well.

Anyone know how many times the Pat's went 3 and out?

I'm curious, because a lot of that will make the D look tired a lot faster and also, despite sucking, it should keep the o-line fresher.

I don't know where these stats might be available, if they're kept at all.

I don't disagree that the OL was overrated last year, but, as usual, you go overboard and negate what would otherwise be an arguable point with hyperbole. Nice going.

Please explain why you think they were overrated? Keegs hasn't returned to explain maybe you can.

Some kind of evidence to support why you think they were overated.

    No Jersey Selected

I never use the *SIGH* ploy but I think I'll do it now...

*SIGH* Our offensive line gave Brady enough time to stand up on his own two feet and throw 50 touchdowns last year. That is NOT an overrated line. Brady was the quarterback to drop back the most and get sacked the least. That is NOT an overrated offensive line. Please tell me why the offensive line is overrated besides the fact that they met up with the fastest pass rush in the NFL in the last game of the season... a pass rush that EVERYBODY in the Giants played had trouble stopping.

Anyone who thinks the OL on the highest scoring offense is overrated is either lying or knows nothing about football.
Take all the skill players you want, if the OL doesnt do its job, the offense fails.

Matt Light as an All Pro LT is silly.

I think the OL was terrific last season, but I do think they were overrated. Those are not mutually exclusive ideas. People are acting like somehow they're among the best of all-time and the best in the NFL. They deserve a lot of credit, but Tom Brady and his pcket presence and quick release contributed to that, as well.

It seems to me that this thread is suddenly lurching toward "the Patriots OL was AMAZING" and no one's allowed to say anything even slightly negative about them. They are not one of the best OL's off all time. The offense had one of the best seasons of all time. There's a difference.

Apparently, the games look a lot different on my TV. What I saw was nearly a full season of Brady having all the time in the world to throw. When he had to make a quick release or sidestep a rush he did, but he was making sandwiches back there for the lion's share of snaps.

We should all hope that the O-Line is that overrated this season.

To your first point. Light may not be the greatest LT to play in the NFL...but he is really good and with the decline and now retirement of Ogden, the decline/injury to pace, the elite LT in the NFL is not as good as they once were. That is OK because I think other than the LT position which has had some real great players thruout history the rest of the lines have actually been better than historicly.

To your second point. I think you are right this is not the best O-line of all tiem but they were the best last season. To be the best of all time you have to do it for many years straight. You are the one who made the leap to best of all time....So maybe your perception is that people over rate them but from the article and from the opinions on this board I don't think they are overrated. Just going by opinions on here not neccesarily this thread than I think they are grossly underated (mainly because of the SB performance).
