The Time Clock Has Run Out: Israel Ready to Strike Iran

Newsmax.com - The Time Clock Has Run Out: Israel Ready to Strike Iran

Informed sources in Washington tell Newsmax that Israel indeed will launch a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities soon – possibly in just days as President George W. Bush prepares to leave office.

The reason: The time clock has begun to run out. Iran is close to acquiring a nuclear device under the control of its radical president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said in June that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in as little as six months.

    That six-month period has passed.

Reports of Israel’s decision to imminently launch strikes, although unconfirmed, would seem to contradict the Bush stance outlined in a front-page New York Times story last week, which asserted that Bush rejected a plea from Israel last year to help it raid Iran’s main nuclear complex.

It certainly coincides with Israel being in Gaza ... a version of softening the target. I pray this does not happen .. however ... should it happen would some of Iran's allies themselves be happy about it? In this twisted world of ours even friends are enemies ... or should I say friends don't want their allies to be too strong.

Somehow Israel will try to paint themselves as 'the victim' again probably, while the rest of the world rolls their eyes.

I can't believe not one intelligent person in their government realizes that they are on the brink of starting WWIII. Maybe they know this actually, and don't give a sh*t that the rest of the world is going to burn so long as they kill their enemy.

In it's current state, the world won't be fighting a WWIII. it would require America on one side and either Russia or China on the other. China would be a serious enemy (mainly to invade, they lack power projection), but the Chinese are one of our closest trading partners and would be foolish to jeopardize that because of a regional war in the middle east. Russia doesn't have the power to stand a chance against NATO anymore and they know it, especially considering the alliance has gown to include countries bordering Russia itself.

You may want to look at this from Israel's perspective. You have a nearby country that over and over again states they want to destroy your country, make it go "bye bye".

Add in that fact that this same country is funding and arming neighboring terrorists that have been killing your citizens.

Couple these with the fact that this country is racing toward having the ability to produce nuclear weapons, that not only they could use, but also use to arm extreme terrorists.

Anyone who is loose or light with the facts love to blame Israel. Israel is not on the brink of starting WWIII, rather, I would point to Iran. Stop blaming the victim and start learning about who the real enemy is.

    really.

do you remember the scene in Dr Strangelove when they are telling the President the situation? The look on his face is hysterical.

so, Mr President, here is your Day one briefing.

The banks are all collapsing, we are heading for a Depression, and Israel and Iran are going to war, would you like cream and sugar in your coffee??

It's not as one sided or black/white as you think. Both sides have dirty garbage, neither side is DEFINITELY "the victim".

If Israel attacks Iran, THEY started WWIII, they are not the victim. Using your screwed up logic no matter what happens Israel is never at fault, even if Israel pre-emptively attacks others. It makes no sense

OK, the alternative? Let Iran develop nuclear weapons? Yea, great choice, Einstein. I can guarantee that you'll see your WWIII once a nuclear cloud is introduced in Israel and/or the U.S.

Neither side is the victim???? where do you get your news, Al Jazeera? or the New York Times? Try getting facts before drawing conclusions.

are you saying that we don't want the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud?

where have I heard that before?

If Iran gets and uses a nuke....I don't want to be around for the war that follows.

The good news is that this administration, time and time again, has made the correct decision. They will make the correct decision again with only one week left. Bush and Cheney are sprinting to the finish, and will forever be remembered as heroes of freedom, and patriots.

    HA!!!!!!...........

On the real, can't they just do what they have been doing with everything, leave it to future presidnets and generations?

We really don't know for sure where Iran is in this process. So why shoot first and ask questions later. If they do they don't have any that would reach us. Israel is said to have at least 50 nukes so what would be the logic in Iran using its one or two nukes it would be annihilated

Yes, because you've been so absorbed in "facts" the past 7 years...

Still pretending the NYT has some anti-Bush agenda? Same tired talking points time after time after time... Con men have retreated, and slowly are disappearing from political forums, but the most obnoxious of them still carry water for their outgoing heroes...

We'll let you get back to alone time now, just you, a tube of astro, and your wild dreams of pre-emption... Stay busy.
