Theres a lot of back and forth her eabout "slanted" news coverage. Theres another thread about it right now, this article goes on to explain why it is. And no one is imagining the bias it exists for a reason thats so simple its.......
Media bias explained | A biased market | The Economist

The key to understanding why bias flourishes in a competitive market may lie in thinking more clearly about what readers actually want. Sendhil Mullainathan and Andrei Shleifer, two Harvard economists, argued in an influential paper* that it may be naive to think that people care about accuracy alone. Instead, they modelled the consequences of assuming that newspaper readers also like to have their beliefs confirmed by what they read. As long as readers have different beliefs, the Mullainathan-Shleifer model suggests that competition, far from driving biased reporting out of the market, would encourage newspapers to cater to the biases of different segments of the reading public. A more recent paper** by Matthew Gentzkow and Jesse Shapiro, two economists at the University of Chicago’s business school, set out to test this proposition..........

I read an opinion somewhere that basically said an Obama Presidency offers more news material to the industry and they (the media) see their existence lasting a bit longer because of that.

I don't think that's the entire reason ... but i think there is some grain of fact to that ... the new kid on the block ... this is virgin territory as far as news stories go. Compared to an older white republican ... they have been there and they have done that.

If anyone read the article it simple people tune into certain outlets and read particular pulications that reinforce thier beliefs. Therefore a RT'y will watch Fox because if reinforces what he or she believes, and a Lt'y will watch more of MSNBC because it reinforces their outlooks. And are all right with it as long as it isn't TO slanted . But this doesn't explain FAUX noise viewers. Which is almost (until recently) pure propaganda. ;)
