Welcome 124. Unlike Jetsinsiders, we're all about good-natured ribbing and actual football talk. You'll have to work a bit to get mistreated around here.
What's your stance on Favre-Tanny? I think you guys have the best odds to improve but cutting those guys loose.
Thans JSn,
Yeah, I posted at JetsInsider for a while, until 2005 and since then I've been at
JetNation.com - Powered by vBulletin. We are retreads who left JI because we were treated unfairly or thought the moderator was a total ****. We have over 3,000 members now. There are some blind *******s who just hate New England, but you learn to ignore them.
But anyway,
My stance is this:
1. Favre - Hope he retires.
Why? Because Woody Johnson, our owner as I'm sure you know, is infatuated with Brett. Why? Probably because he's the great Brett Favre and he has PSL's to sell. I don't see the Jets trading or releasing him if he decides to come back, and the organizaton has given him up until the NFL Combine to decide if he wants to return.
I really liked Brett and enjoyed watching him throughout his career and in the beginning he brought a lot of hope to our fans. But now it just is evident he is not even half the player he once was, 2007 was a fluke of a season for him if you look at his last five years, and its time for him to ride off into the sunset.
2. Tannenbaum - I like him.
He has done very well getting Free Agents and making trades trying to help "Mangenious" -- HAHAHAHA! -- 34 defense work. His drafts have been hit or miss, thats for sure, but the thinking on Gholston, so far his biggest "bust", was that Mangini was trying to push too much onto him after he came from a 43 system. Why he didn't just line him up and rush him is beyond me. Hopefully the new coach no matter if its Rex Ryan, Mike FRAUDahan, Marty Schottenheimer, Brian Schottenheimer, Josh McDaniels, whoever, will realize Gholston should just primarily be rushing the passer. He is going to work out with LT (Lawerence Taylor) this offseason, so that should help, we hope.
Tanny has made great moves, and he even offered to give up some of his power to get Bill Cowher in house. Clearly Cowher doesn't want to coach in 2009, which sucks, but what are you going to do?
