    this is a stupid protest

    obama was elected using the defined process.

    I think everyone should move on.......not just harry, but the patters' and shmessy's of the world who think that the outcome was some sort of mandate that the US is happily shifting towards socialism.

    gloaters and crybabies......grow up

    lets be real....

    Obama has more of a mandate than Bush did when he claimed he gained "Political Capital" and he was going to spend it, because that was his "style"
    ======================
    Bush - 286 - 62MIL
    Kerry - 251 - 59 Mil 52% turnout
    ======================
    Obama - 332 - 62MIL
    Romney - 206 - 58MIL
    ======================57% turnout

    So you can understand the pundits and those on this board that claim a mandate, using Bush as a benchmark, Obama outpaced his #s.

    Having said that, these Republicans really shot themselves in the face with the fiscal cliff, they doubled down on a Romney win, and he didnt deliver. They should've took the deal they had last year. Now Obama is holding all the cards. He has Political capital.

    1 Million extra is a mandate? Really???

    I don't think so ... Bush thought he had one and how did that turn out?

    If Obama thinks he has a mandate then go for it

    ... it won't turn out good IMO it will further divide the country.

    3 million (and counting in CA and AZ still)

    Bush was the guy who claimed a mandate. HIs numbers become the standard for spending poliutical capital. His words, and his #s not mine.

    Bush attempted to privatize social security with his capital. thats taking your political capital and buying a powerball ticket expecting to win.

    NObody thought thatw as a good idea. It was super unpopular. Still is.

    60+% of americans believe raising Taxes on millionaires is a good idea. Heck, even Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol thinks its fine

    with a majority in the house and sentae that HASN'T signed Norquists pledge, 3 million more voters, 60+% percent of public opinion, and teh lost gamble by the GOP on the fiscal cliff....

    I'd say Obama has a mandate, yes.

    They're within their constitutional rights to do so. I think it's stupid to do so and really they'll piss off more conservatives than liberals so it's kind of pointless.

    I know that's how you see it, but the real difference betwen pre election and post is nil no matter how much you want to spin it

    try another angle.......what's the mandate when you compare the 2008 voting to 2012? did Obama make any friends or did he lose some?

    When Obama won in 2008, and the house and senate went Democratic....

    The right wing pundits claimed a victory, and called it a "center-right" country.

    so maybe....its ALWAYS a mandate for everything for each side? win lose or draw?

    maybe it's just me but I try to get past the pontificating by the parties. They can call it whatever they want ... it was not a mandate by any stretch and yes ... I said the same when Bush said it in 2004.

    No doubt. I was at my town's Veteran's Day parade on Sunday as two of the girls marched in it with their Girl Scout Troops. One of the Veterans made a good speech about passing a constitutional amendment to ban any type of mistreatment of the American flag. He went though the entire history including Texas vs Johnson and the Supreme Court. Most people were probably some form of bored but I always loved constitutional law in school. From his perspective it wasn't free speech but rather defiling a national symbol. In my mind it's both. I would never do it but I accept it as a form of protest. I also accept his point of view as very real and close to home.

    Part of me supports him but another part thinks ok but where will that stop? The court over the years takes a very open view on the wording of amendments and doesn't apply it in the original meaning always. This can be good or bad depending on the circumstance and a person's point of view. Perhaps it could be used to stop the wackos from the Westboro Baptist Church from protesting soldier's funerals which I think we can all agree would be good. On the other hand perhaps they used it to evict the Occupied Wall Street. Some disagree with OWS but I think everybody thinks it's within their rights to do so.

    This isn't anything new. People did this when Obama won the first time.

    These are the same people who whine and bytch about burning the flag, by violating the flag code...

    Essentially the same thing as breaking the established law on the flag..
