This is great news ... a bit late but great news. I would have preferred the old plan be passed during Bush's final term but this is a great step in the American way. It should have been done on a case by case basis 3 years ago. many families have been ton apart by the broad swath manner of deportation.

Well done Barack Obama et al.

Wow, we agree on something! kind of.....

I just don't understand this, I have no problem with them coming over and starting a new life, I do however have an issue with them not paying taxes. I don't care what your excuse is, school, job, family, you have to follow the rules!!!

    I pay taxes
    patsfan13 pays taxes
    Harry pays taxes
    pfva pays taxes
    Icy pays taxes

We all pay our taxes and we all should, its not fair they get a free meal on our backs, I welcome them with open arms! JUST PAY TAXES!!!:rocker: If you choose not to pay your taxes, GTFO and don't let the door hit you on the way out! Its bad enough they break the laws, I can look past that cause in a way we all were in the same boat at one time(grandparents and such) but they did 2 things that they don't do now:

    1.Learn the English!
    2.Pay their taxes!

I miss the old hardworking honest immigrants!

This is indeed great news Icy. This move makes it more likely that Obama will be a one term president. There's nothing like backdoor Amnesty, and pandering for votes.

What is it about the word "illegal" that some people can't understand.

Of course they pay taxes, every time they buy a 24 pack of Bud after a long day on the farm they pay sales taxes, they don't however pay payroll taxes.

They need to pay all the same taxes we all do, some might pay payroll taxes but that would mean they are not illegal as you would need a legit SS# and proof of citizenship.....if the Business don't want to check it out, its partly their fault as-well.

Many is not good enough, they all need to pay taxes;)

    They use our schools
    They use our welfare
    They use our roads
    They use our hospitals

Just do the right thing and pay your fair share, our country works because all of us pay taxes, what would happen if all of a sudden half of us didn't pay our taxes? Our system only works because we all pay our taxes, as soon as we don't you have what we have today, a broke system.

To add injury to insult they take most of there money(tax free) and send it back to Mexico and that's a huge problem as well, we need that money in our system not funneled to drug lords and bad politicians.

The bigger problem is the fact that illegals are massive red ink. Dropping anchors all over that we pay for, while also having to pay to police, treat, administrate them when they won't pay a fraction of their costs into the system.

The old system punished famlies ... kids and wives left behind. The mass deportation has created serious economic consequences in many areas of the country. The new system acknowledges people who have integrated into the country in a beneficial way.

I've known these people for many years ... since the 1970's and i still have yet to meet someone who came here to collect welfare. Correcting the past IMO is giving everyone a chance to stay here and at the same time make it tougher for people who choose to come here the wrong way.

I've seen to much American trash over the years who know the system inside and out ... who are a tremendous burden on society economically to prefer them just because they were born here. This country needs to have a maximum number of people who choose to help their country - John kennedy's words echo in my head each and every day.

If people didn't want their 'family' punished then don't break the law. Clearly these folks werent thinking of their families, BTW deport the entire family if they are here illegally, and stop spending taxpayer money on people who are here illegally breaking the law.

Isn't this the same thing that Rick Perry Believes in??? Perry's angle is cheap labor the backbone of the Texas Economy.

In 2001 he signed into law that allows illegals to apply for State Schools, get instate tuition rates as long as they promise to apply for permanent residency..

But the right loves the man with such pretty hair..

More Left Wing Democrat RACISM was behind this latest political move Obama isn't doing this out of the kindness of his little heart for these poor people, the rat is doing it for Votes from the Hispanic Community, THATS RACISM IN MY BOOK, pandering to an ethnic group, it would certainly be considered racist if Bush or Romney tried it with White Mormons.

US to review deportations, focus on criminals

    You can't mass deport people.

However, unless immigrants are worked into the fabric of the country they move in to, they can become a source of serious economic and political disruption. There absolutely needs to be a reckoning on full documentation for workers and ensuring that:

    1) they are paying taxes
    2) they are not an extreme burden on local resources

Cape Cod has a very interesting dilemma -- most white, "native born" young families are moving out and many minority immigrant families are moving in. As a result, the schools systems are degrading -- not because the immigrants are a problem but money simply isn't there to support the system. More students "qualify" for aid than ever before, straining school budgets and having them cut back on other programs that would otherwise enrich the experience. They tried plans to have co-pays for extracirricular programs but more often then not, parents who couldn't afford it would ignore the fees.

Today's illegal immigrant is tomorrow's democrat constituency, so of course they want to do nothing whatsoever regarding actually enforcing the law and sending those criminals and thieves back where they belong.

(Oh my - what am I saying?!? Today's illegal immigrant is today's democrat constituency, not tomorrow's! I apologize for my error above!)

How does that work with the beliefs of Rick Perry??

Know he is the fave right winger of the week, but his view is very similar.. he takes it one step further and signed a bill that allows them to go to instate colleges with instate tuition.

I agree all should pay taxes, and to be clear, I wasn't addressing their legality.

I was simply stating that there is a misconception regarding illegal aliens and taxes, as many do pay income taxes (and many employers / the employees, however you want to look at it, do pay payroll taxes).

Employers can even follow the rules. The system is antiquated. Send in the information, get a no-match letter back weeks or months back. Send in a "correction," hear back weeks or months later that there still is a discrepancy. Employee then leaves if they haven't yet.

You'll know the government or any pol is serious about this issue when they push for use of e-verify or some other system that requires real-time verification. (Apparently there were problems in a recent trial of e-verify, but I'm skeptical as few details were offered, and this really shouldn't be so difficult given the state of technology today.)
