looks pretty solid except I'd cut evans and add another wr, a free agent wr mabye

Good work mcbee, cut Evans when (if) Branch returns or we pick a WR from the next cuts and you're there. I'm pretty close to you, I might pick a bone with one or two but what do I know?:)

Wow, if this comes to fruition, some nice youth added to the LB crew in Mincey, Woods & Alexander. Only crew that is subpar is the WR's, and I think it will even weaker than that, since I don't see Jackson playing for us in the near future. No mention of him even being close to being ready. He obviously has to make the roster, since I don't think he can be Pupped.

I don't think we keep 8 d-lineman. 7 max. Either Klecko or Smith has to go.

Probably another WR.

Good list.
But I don't think Tebucky will be cut.
Put Tebucky in Chad Scotts place and it's perfect.

OFFENSE
The wide receivers are weak. I think it likely that we will have at least one more, hopefully Branch. When we bring in the first, Cobbs will be waived and then put on the Practice Squad. Childress could get beaten out by Stone, or more likely by someone cut from another team (or traded for) or he could be the #5. I guess this is fine if Jackson is near returning.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

I must say, there is much with which I disagree. We might keep 6 DL's. That's all we really need. I suppose one more could make it as the #53 player.

I would keep an additional corner. List Andrews as a DB doesn't mean we don't need nine real defensive backs. I'd keep Poteat.

You obviously think this is the year for bb to stop depending on veteran backups at linebacker and special teams. You choose Mincey, Woods over Davis and Chad Brown, and Alexander over Scott, Jones or Beisel. I can only saw we'll see.

Cut Evans and Klecko and find a receiver or two or Davis for ST and we've got a team.

These also were the changes that I would have made.Nice roster proposal.I do feel that if this were indeed the final 53 we do have a legitimate shot of being around come late January.

I don't think Evans will make the final roster. That spot will go to Branch when he's back.

Smith, Woods could go on PS.

Gardner, Alexander could get cut. As could Klecko.

If Jones is healthy then he'll probably make it.

I doubt Branch comes back and don't know if they'd get another WR. They'll be running 3 TEs alot.

Evans still might get cut. Probably a safe cut as unlikely to be picked up.

Re: New 53 (love this team of year!)

Smells like football season...

Here is my latest rooster guess, some trades added to spice things up...

Overall Summary Young strong offense, defense not as old as you think. Some young players added to LB core.

QB (2) Brady, Cassell
Comments Don't even think it… Bracelet to practice squad (PS)

W.R. (5) - Porter (Raiders), Caldwell, Jackson, BROWN, Mike Williams (Lions)
Comments Why not start with a bang, I hope Branch comes back but why not think out of the box.... Branch traded to Minn. for a #1, trade a 3rd for Porter, and a 5th for Mike WIlliams from Detroit gives us bigger receivers manageable years of salary. If you don't like Porter change the name to Stallworth. Also strong possibility that another vet becomes available (Patten, Rodgers).

O Line (9) - Light, Mankins, Koppen, Neal, O'Callahan, Hochstein, Kaczur, Mruc., Britt
Comments Potential strength of team. Stevenson to practice squad.

RB (4) - DILLION, Maroney, FAULK, Evans
Comments Nice mix, another strength. Pass to PUP. Cobbs to PS.

TE (4) - Watson, Graham, Thomas, Mills
Comments What can you say about Watson...

DL (7) - Seymour, Warren, Wilfork, Green, Wright, Sullivan, Klecko
Comments Smith to PS

LB (9) - Colvin, VRABEL, BRUSCHI, SEAU, Banta-Cain, Gardner, Alexander, Woods, IZZO
Comments Possibility of Beisel / Davis making last spot and either Mincey or Woods going to PS.

Safety (5) - HARRISON, Wilson, Hawkins, Sanders, Milligan
Comments Milligan from SD is picked up to serve the same role Stone played last year, he is a pro bowl special teamer.

CB (5) - Samuels, Hobbs, SCOTT (Chad), Gay, Andrews
Comments Wilson, Hawkins add more depth in an emergency. Scott & Andrews can backup at safety. Vernell Brown to
PS

Specialists (3) - MILLER, Gostkowski, Paxton
Comments Not really any surprises

PUP - Pass
Pass starts on PUP

Practice - Cobbs (RB), Roach (ILB), Vernell Brown (CB), Le Kevin Smith (DT), Corey Bramlet (QB), Kelvin Kight (WR) ,

Mincey (LB), Stevenson (OL)
If Sullivan beats Smith, Smith to PS. If Beisel beats Woods or Mincey, one of the them goes to PS.

IR - Ventrone Raymond, M. Hill

Disclaimer I) Pricing and participation may vary.
ii) I don't know what I am talking about and this list subject to change without warning. An update will be posted after each pre-season game.
iii) I really don't know the PS rules.
UPPER CASE indicates player is over 30 at start of season.

Fine analysis.

I have one serious disagreement. Mruczkowski is NOT making this squad. If we keep nine, Stevenson and Britt are the developmental backups. The top seven are quite strong, so the last two are for development.

Depending on how Cobbs and Evans perform in the final game (they should both see alot of action) I just don't see Cobbs clearing wavers and making it to the PS. Someone will pick him up. We really don't need a FB when we have 4 TE's.

Woods has been playing alot with the second team and has played well. IMHO he should make the team.

But Davis should also make the team. He has been starting at ILB in dime play as an extra safety and is a big ST player. It's a tough call though, how many ST ace's at LB can you have?

Again this is just MHO.

If serious disagreement means who makes the 8, 9 OL spot I fell pretty good :). I picked Mruc because I was unsure how Koppen would be physically. Mruc. has some experience at center so he got the nod. If Koppen is ok I would like to see Stevenson slide in as a developmental OG/C.

Someone asked about Cobbs versus Evans. Cobss has looked good but I don't see him on the roster. Evans or Pass can do more on Special Teams and short yardage. Cobbs was an undrafted free agent and will most likely clear waivers, IMO. If he gets picked up by another team "C'est La Vie", if an emergency comes up under sized backup RBs are not impossible to replace. Pass is on the PUP is someone gets hurt or Evans stumbles.

I would go with it, but with a couple of tweaks.

I think we need to trim a RB and a DL. Likely Cobbs (which is unfortunate, but is a reality) and Smith, hopefully both to the PS.

Add another DB, likely Warfield and a wide reciever, if we trade Branch, look for a veteran from the waiver wires, if Branch comes back to the fold, he is the #5 reciever.

Also trade out Chad Scott for Tebucky, unless Jones has suffered a season ending injury and needs to go on the IR.

Offense:

OL: (8) - Koppen,Hochstein,Neal, O'Callaghan, Light, Kaczur, Britt, Mankins

WR (5) - Brown, Childress, Caldwell, Jackson, Branch (Stone if no Branch)

RB (5) - Dillon, Faulk, Maroney, Cobbs, Mills (FB)

TE(3) - Watson, Graham, Thomas

QB(3) - Brady, Cassell, FA cut by another team

Special Teams:

K/LS/P (3) - Paxton, Miller, Ghost

Defense:

DL (6) - Seymour, Green, Wilfork, Sullivan, Warren, Wright

LB(6) - Bruschi, Seau, Vrabel, Colvin, Banta-Cain, Davis

DB(7) - Harrison, Wilson, Hawkins, Sanders, Gay, Hobbs, Samuel

Last 5 spots:

5 from Smith, Evans, Gardener, Woods, Alexander, Mincey, Izzo, Sanders, Jones, C.Scott, Andrews

I think I would go with Woods, Gardener, Andrews, Jones, and Alexander
