An openly Neo Nazi in Arizona killed his girlfriend, her daughter and a 15 month granddaughter before he turned the gun on himself.

J T Ready was an active tea partier, and a border vigilante and a good friend of Pearce, the author of SB 1070....

Also a buddy of Joe Arpaio...

They are everywhere and gaining credibility..

SO anyway, pretty insane that the Greeks decided to elect nutjobs... doesn't speak well for them. Met with a Greek national over Greek Easter who's a cop in Athens -- he was in the states getting his citizenship. Says Greece is great if you have money and want to lie around on the beach all day but for a young family, it's terrible.

Greece will soon be tossed from the EU, or will toss the Euro currency. Once that happens, and other countries turn their political landscape upside down, we could see the end of the EU as we know it.

The Election in France could make the probability of an EU breakup far more likely. The German's don't want finance more spending by the French.

Ah yes. "Spending" is the reason the EU is on the brink of collapse. Nothing deeper. That would require thought.

Right. Energy is the only component that matters. Demographics, fiscal policy, etc. have zero influence. Deep thinking appears to be rather easy!

It is not a question of "If" the EU will break apart....it's just a question of when.

I see it as a good thing....

    Peak Oil!!!!

France gets how much of it power from nukes? I think France supplies something like 80% of it's power from home grown sources. I hardly think their fiscal issues are peak oil related.

I'm curious to see what happens in that time. What happens to the money that's been given to Greece for example. What the borrowing costs will be for these nations that are bordering on insolvency and need capital to pay bills. Unfortunately this will seriously affect global markets I think. Not positively either. I don't know what a break up would litterally mean either. I'm not sure anyone really does.

I'd venture to guess that Greece will not get a loan from anyone, anytime soon. If you're Germany, or any other EU nation, why would you hand the Greeks money? If that ends up being the case, then Greece's recourse will be to reissue it's own currency. How long before that point is reached? It's going to be an interesting 6-12 months for the EU.

Be careful what you wish for. While I also see a breakup as inevitable, if a few of those countries declare bankruptcy or default on bonds, it will impact us here in the US because of the banks that have investments that will be negatively impacted.

    No Jersey Selected

Not to mention that it seems like the media (regardless of their persuasion) seems to feel that the guy they just elected President in France could shake this thing up big time. CNN, NBC, ABC (I dont watch Fox so can't speak for them) have painted a very possible grim reality if he passes much of which he campaigned on.

Granted all they have to go on so far is his positions he stated during the campaign...so take it for what its worth.

What I've learned over the years, is that politicians think and say a lot of things during their campaigns for office, that they either won't do, or realize once they win, they can't do. Sometimes that failure to act on their promises is intentional, but sometimes it's not. We'll soon find out which is the case with France's newest leader. Will Hollande practice what he's been preaching, or will the realities of office force him to adjust course. Time will tell.

Umm, that nutjob was not elected. In Greece over 20 of them were actually elected. Not really the same situation.
