For those of you who went to the game, I wanted to know, if you get a chance, would you mind answering a few questions? Thanks!

    1) Were there a lot of Redskins fans there?
-How many, what % would you say were Redskins fans?

    2) Was this the normal amount for road fans, more, or less?

    3) How were the Redskin fans?
    -Obnoxious rowdy punks or civilized?

    4) How do the Redskins compare with other clubs with road fans turnout?
-Compared to the Giants, Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, or anybody, did the Redskins have one of the smallest?

    5) How does this compare to when the Patriots are in Washington ?
-Do the Pats normally bring a lot more on the road?

On TV when I normally see Pats home games, it seems there are few if any road fans at all.
-I would have expected given how the Pats are this year, coupled with the Skins being 8 hrs away, a mediocre club, with a so so fanbase, that they would have had next to no or likely one of the smallest turnouts.
-I mean if the Bills or Jets appear to have few fans, why would a team further away with a fickle base have more?
-However on TV I was surprised by how often I saw shots of Skin fans.
-It seemed to me they did have a decent amount, as high as any road team and very respectable.
-I was disappointed that seats would have been that accessible for a weak, long distant fanbase.
-Was this the case or were my eyes deceiving?
-Did they have a decent, larger than the Giants/Bills/Jets amount and if so any theories?

    Thanks!

I was at the game, and I was shocked how few Redskins fans were at the game. I live in VA and the Skins have a pretty good fan base, but maybe they don't really travel that well. What I would see is 1 or 2 Skins fans with a large group of Pats fans, that's about it. I never saw a big group together. I didn't see any obnoxious behavior, they were out of it so early that they just looked disappointed.

Probably the worst turnout of visiting fans since Jacksonville in the playoffs, but I didn't really expect much then. The Redskins have a long history and a large fanbase, but I get the feeling it's not as widespread across the country as the Pats, Steelers, Cowboys, etc.

The Pats represented very well in DC 4 years ago, they tend to represent well in most road contests.

Guys, guys, guys, this has nothing to do with who has larger fanbase and what not. This has to do with the fact that Northern VA is a corporate powerhouse these days, while Boston isn't anymore. In fact, stats have shown that people who leave Boston outnumber people who enter it. So, lots of folks from Boston have moved to Northern VA, whereas not many have moved to Boston from VA, because VA has loads of job availabilty. Why go to a place that has no prospects whatsoever. I would say that there are more Pittsburgh fans in Northern VA than any other fans out there. This has to do with the fact that Pittsburgh is a cesspool with no job availability. So, what do these folks do? Go to a place with loads and loads of job opportunities.
Lots, and lots and lots and lots of Steelers fans here. Yes, there are many Patriots fans as well, but Steelers and Cowboys fans outnumber than big time. This area has fans from everywhere. Once again, it has to do with job availability.

I live in the DC area.
I got to disagree about the Redskins fanbase.
    It really isn't that large.
DC overall is a very apathetic sportstown, they lack the passion and knowledge of legitmate places in the Northeast or Midwest.
They also are dominated by road fans, always have been even before the boom simply because DC again is apathetic.
When you move to New York or Boston you normally become a fan of their teams.
Not in DC, they just don't have a strong enough base.

They do love their football but again they aren't a well traveled base nor are they popular outside the beltway.
The only place they used to have a prescene was in the south, but due to expansion that has eroded.

Given how Baltimore has a team, anywhere north and west DC is hardly every going to be represented because they simply can't compete for fans with real Northeast towns.

    Further

    1) You said this was the worst turnout since the Jags game.
-So it really was less than the Bills/Jets, in other words very low?

    2) You know what surprises me here in DC?
-You have lots of transplants which means fans of other teams.
-In baseball there are tons of Yankee, Met, and Red Sox fans.
-Yet in football you see a lot more Eagle, Steeler, and Cowboy fans than Giants/Jets/Pats.
-In hockey you see Pens/Rangers/Flyers but not many Bruins.

It always has me thinking, what's up with that?
-I don't get how if there are so many Boston transplants in DC, why then they aren't strongly represented in all sports.
-In baseball they have tons of fans but considerably less in football and more so in hockey.

Why don't the Pats have a strong prescene like the Red Sox in baseball or Steelers/Eagles/Cowboys?

I don't get how transplants from PIT and PHI are diehards for football yet those from BOS are that way for baseball.
-Why can't you have transplants with adamant support for both sports?
-I don't know why it appears PIT/PHI/BOS choose MLB/NFL over the other or why it is so disproportionate.

i was at the game too... i agree, there were almost zero (much less than 5%) skins fans... i go to most games, and it was a poor showing by the skins, especially considering they are fairly close.

nationwide, the pats were 2nd in jersey sales this year... behind only the cowboys, and ahead of the steelers, niners, packers, and everyone else
