we can't take this lying down. This is total *********. It is happening all over the league. Everyone is going to be coming after them as far back as 2001 with questions of their legitimacy.

We have to fight and fight....it's really that simple

I've said that on a couple of threads - fight fire with fire. If we just take it then . . . we're just taking it. Maybe we're the only ones doing this exact thing but we aren't the only ones doing some form of sign stealing.

I don't think I could agree with this post any more. If all of the sudden we are under intense investigation for stealing signals, then it's time for the Patriots to unleash whatever dirty, disgusting, hurtful secrets they can upon the leauge. No more Mr. Nice Guy if you will.

The organization has shown nothing but class the last 7 - 10 years and now we are allegedly found 'guilty' of stealing signals? Against a laughable Jets team.

Another poster said it best in another thread: No Mercy.

Whenever we can run up a score on a team, we do so. Make the leauge realize that we were just doing is the exact same thing that every other team does. No more interviews, no more media, no more anything.

Our voice will be heard through the gridiron, and nothing more.

Sign stealing by visually observing the other team is not illegal. When you use technology such as videotape it becomes illegal because using technology that is against the rules gives an additional advantage not everyone has and it makes it easier to steal signs.

I say take the punishment like a man... er.. men? Then just go out and proceed to trounce opponents anyway. It'll be hard for people to claim this season is illegitimate if they're playing under a microscope.

I'd actually like to hear some accusations involving games where this would have actually helped, like the playoff game against the Chargers or the game against the Bears last year.

An EMP going off at the 50 yard line wouldn't have saved the Packers last year or the Jets on Sunday. If they're really pulling shenanigans in games they were going to win anyway, than it's a pathological situation at this point.

I totally agree....it has been said that there is a code of silence on this whole aspect of the game..as it has been going on for years with nothing being done. Well Mangina has now broken that CODE...so all is fair.
I do expect that if especially if Goodell's ruling is harsh that the floodgates will be open and a LOT of dirty laundry will be coming out..REMEMBER..there are MANy teams doing this..the Pats MIGHT BE pushing the envelope a bit..but once open, it's all fair game..and once Goodell makes a ruling on this..when OTHERS are exposed, he will have NO CHOICE but to rule similarly.
It will happen..I am sure..it will one way or another...

I know that. If that's all we "have" we need to get people on TV and make sure they understand the lines we crossed. We evidently committed the crime of videotaping. But the crime of sign stealing isn't a crime at all. It's all being lumped together as us doing it all and no-one else doing anything.

Normally I'd just say take it like a man and move on, but I'm actually kind of in agreement for a few reasons:

    1. Mangini and the Jets have been complete a$$es and Mangini doesn't seem to have any respect for the man who gave him a shot in this league. From an NFL standpoint it's almost like spitting in your fathers face.

    2. Some of the teams coming after the Patriots have themselves been accused of cheating in the past, and some of the people among them I dislike the most happen to be on the comp committee..

    3. According to Bill Parcells, Don Banks, an Ex- Patriots and Panthers cameraman, and other ex-players, coaches and reporters these kind of practices are common in the NFL.

See, I really don't like the fact NE did this kind of stuff and don't understand why they seemed to think they had to. I'm kind of dissapointed but knowing other teams in the NFL are doing the same while acting like innocent little angles is pissing me off.

Really, it's pathetic the Jets would set up this type of sting with the league. Think about it, Mangini came up under BB, worked for him all the way through 2005, didn't say anything about it last year, but for some reason had a moment of consciousness during a game in which the Jets were getting blown out of the water? Pretty suspect to me. it seems Mangini has no respect for BB what so ever and just wanted to make him look bad, which again is pretty f*cking pathetic.

I'm not saying what the Patriots did was right and again it does dissapoint me, but think about this entire situation and how this whole thing went down and it's pretty sad.

My guess is that the threat of this is the leverage that Kraft is going to use to get the penalty reduced to a slap on the wrist.

Once he ends up on the phone with Goodell, he'll make it clear that the Pats are willing to accept their due punishment, but they won't be made a public example of with an over-the-top penalty -- if the Pats are going to suffer heavily for this kind of cheating/gamesmanship, than Kraft will sure that every other team guilty of the slightest infraction of competition is too -- and with equal amounts of publicity.

Abusing others who have broken the rules is a good cover up for a cheater.

It will be funny if some widespread corruption is revealed regarding several of the league's marquee franchises. Mangina would never get another job again... well besides the Giants.

It will be a relative slap on the wrist but not an actual one. At this point I think they have to be hit with something like a #3 or a #4 & #5. This isn't a commissioner who likes to look weak.

I don't get why Mangina would do it. Making Belichick look bad makes him look bad too. His rings are under the same umbrella as Belichick's.

The commissioner hasn't gone one on one against Bob Kraft yet.

I'm serious. He's easily the most powerful owner in the NFL, and a stone cold shark of a business executive.

You don't mess with the man in the white collar.

A lot of supid, petty things seem like a good idea when you're looking at the wrong end of a 38-14 beatdown.

I hope so PN. Even THAT (accepting punishment) pisses me off as this issue, as we all know, is not going to be swept under the rug, esp by all those that NE beat in the past. It is almost like Seinfeld and Newman. Now Newman (the league) thinks he has Seinfeld (NE) by the nutts - remember the mailfraud episode...:)

Screw that...when you are unjustly backed into a corner you have your reputation to uphold. BB prides himself on character, as does Kraft. They have the opportunity to defend that on a very high profile league accusation. They should not let this slide. We have to fight.....now is the time to fight.

This is going to end with half-naked photos of George Costanza?

I think he prides himself on winning. He didn't seem the least bit concerned during the big show interview that his reputation might be tarnished.

Does anyone think you guys actually did something wrong and man up to it? Instead of fighting back like Mangini did something wrong. The NFL found the guy who was doing something illegaly not the Jets.

My crazy theory BB meets with Goodell and all the sudden this thing disappears because while bb was filming signals he was alsing filming the other team filming him and he has this on 31 other teams prombting goodell to bury this thing.

Edit: this is a joke and I am pissed about this crap and the rodney thing but what the hell, I wasn't niave enough to think this team was as squeaky clean as it appeared, now its just fact they are not.

Is this an elementary school message board? Get caught then look where you can point your finger to deflect attention?
Forget the "mods" where are the Pats fans over the age of 14 on this board?
