Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

That is too bad. I enjoyed his hour long interview show, and I particularly liked it once he was a guest with Limbaugh for a couple of segments, talking about his book, and football, and fathers in general.

Ironic, that a guy who wrote so honestly about his dad dies on father's day weekend.

    Ironic as in "that sucks".

I'm shocked. Thought he was a really good guy. Its always sad when a son dies before his father. Prayers go out to him and his family.

Especially Luke, his son...on this father's day weekend.

I think I'm going to go call my dad now.

Obviously it's a shame - resisting political comment here. MUST RESIST.

It's a good reminder to eat better, get a little exercise and chill out a bit; if I die of a heart attack it'll be because I'm an uptight freak.

It's true it's all over Cable, he was a good decent man, 58 years old.

    RIP Tim Russert.

Not only was he a great political reporter but he spoke in a way that taught the process to many Americans ... we lost a good guy today. I'll never forget how he circled those states and everyone thought he was nuts ... he wasn't.

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

a decent TV journalist, in so far as that goes these days... one of the few who asked some of the tough questions, and got Dick Cheney on record for having lied more than a number of times... also stood his ground regarding the truth about Plame-gate...

    RIP, Tim...

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

I hate that station, but I loved his "whiteboard" style. Simple, no frills, but honest as he saw it. GOTTA RESPECT THAT. A sad day. A good journalist gone, with so very few of them left :(

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

Really, who is left? Brit Hume is pretty good, but he works at Fox so that means he's automatically off the list...I really can't think of anyone else even near Russert now.

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

Russert was the only fair and balanced one left at NBC.

NBC is now the left wings version of what they say "Fox Is"

A Good Decent God Fearing Family Man Who Was Truly "Fair And Balanced" a religious man who never "flaunted" his religion.

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

I lost a good amount of respect for Russert after he abandoned Imus to the stupid word police, but I think he was a good journalist, and I enjoyed him on Meet the Prees. Thoughts and prayers to his family for this sudden and tragic loss.

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

I know I will be banned immediately after this post, but the circumstance required that I comment.

My wife and I never failed to watch Russert on "Meet The Press" and on his new program on MSNBC.

As she put it, "Sunday morning will never be the same."

Many believe that he leaned left, but even if he did, he rarely showed partiality while performing his job in the MSM, something that is very rare in today's political arena.

When I first heard of his death, and began watching, and reading the reports of it, there were tears beginning to form in the corners of my eyes.

Somehow, his death has left a void and he will be missed terribly, not only by his family, those that knew and worked with him,

He was a great, and loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills, and I have always respected the manner in which he spoke of them, and of their opponents.

The irony of this is that it occurred on the weekend of "Fathers Day" and his Book, Big Russ and Me was about his father, a man he loved with all his heart, and this will be a major shock to the elder Russert.

His son graduated from Boston College and is returning from a vacation in Italy, one in which Russert just returned from to begin preparing for his weekend tv programs.

This is a very, very sad day in America.

    Tim Russert, RIP.

    NEM

Nice words, Nem, I don't care what side he leaned on he was a true Pro and a decent man, I could never say anything bad about him.

HE was a dad who died on fathers day weekend, very sad. He wrote a very nice book about his dad and now Big Russ is going to have to bury his son...

Re: RUMOR: NBC Tim Russert dead

Brit Hume isn't off the list simply because he works at Fox...Brit Hume is off the list because he's a 6-oclock news anchor who injects his RW bias into his broadcasts, and then turns around on his Sunday morning talk show and makes absolutely no mistake about it... Repeatedly...

We can create a thread about it if you like... But please don't assert that goofy Brit Hume is a "journalist"... let alone a "pretty good" one.
