According to NASA and East Anglia University, global warming ended 15 years ago and we are entering a 'mini-ice' age. East Anglia was the university that got in trouble for trying to allegedly fudge the data to prove there was a global warming phenomenon. Now they, along with NASA are saying that it hasn't warmed in 15 years.
The issue of climate change or global warming is a three part question. Is the earth warming? Is it the result of manmade actions? Is there anything we can do about it? This research seems to say "no" to the first part, that the earth inherently goes in cycles on its own since well before the Industrial Revolution and now we are cycling to a colder age.
Some of us who didn't drink the "it's totally accepted that there is global warming and you're a fool if you question it" Kool-Aid don't expect an apology or even acknowledgement that maybe, just maybe we might have been right to exhibit some scientific skepticism and to wait for more results before jumping on Big Al's bandwagon....

Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again) | Mail Online

The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.

Global cooling will be a much bigger deal that global warming would have been. If these predictions the Canadian Wheat crop and a lot of Russian grain will be off the table along with reduced crop yields from the US and Europe very bad.

I have been seeing it this way for a while now. I am all for going green ... global warming measures where feasible are generally good for everyone ... but to force it down our throats to raise taxes and promote companies that have no right to exist is insane.

Yeah, reading the article, it's kind of hard to tell what's in the study - they don't name it or link to it. They just say, without a quote or link to the study, that the study says that the warming trend peaked in 97.

They then launch into the "The sun's going out" theory that 13 likes so much, with a lot of unsourced charts to the effect of "the sun's going out."

They do link to their own story about another study saying that hotter summers will kill thousands in the years ahead:

Hotter summers 'may kill 5,900 every year', warns first national risk assessment of climate change | Mail Online

Can't accuse them of not presenting both sides of the story. Not sure why the science guys think hotter summers will kill thousands if we're about to enter an ice age.

Have you guys fogotten already? This is happening because of global warming. Sheesh. Now hurry up and pay your taxes to the international agency on climate change.

Old news. Everyone already new the earth was cooling and not warming. That is why the term Global Warming was change to Climate Change, haha.

It is so funny because it means that if you have a cold winter it is obviously climate change and if you have a mild winter it is obviously climate change and if you have a mix then once again climate change.

More tornadoes than 30 years ago, bad!! Less tornadoes then 30 years ago, bad!!

How do we stop climate change? Taxes! One small volcano does more damage to the ozone layer than mankind has done in the existence of mankind. Oh wait, the ozone layer is not a key word anymore is it?

In the 70s scientists were saying we might be headed into another ice age... in the 80s money dried up for that garbage research and a lot of those same scientist switched to global warming in the 90s. Now in 2000+ they decided to cover their asses either way and just call it climate change.

The truth is that these so called scientist are diluting the process/problem. Instead of concentrating on the real man-made problems like how we are polluting the earths water tables and the effects of smog on health and so on they are getting grants to study abstracts that have no real answers and thus no real solutions.

The more bogus crap like climate change is pushed the less attention is given to the immediate and measurable dangers that mankind is having on our environment.

P.S. Just because your favorite politician(s) has found a way to make money off of it does not make it true.

It turns out that, despite what some people think, the sun affects Earth's climate.

    Crazy, but true.

And you wonder how the tabs get their reputation... from the comments:

Daily Mail also stated 92% chance of Maunder Minimium like conditions. To quote DM article “According to a paper issued last week by the Met Office, there is a 92 per cent chance that both Cycle 25 and those taking place in the following decades will be as weak as, or weaker than, the ‘Dalton minimum’ of 1790 to 1830″.

Your/Reading Uni research paper actually said an 8% chance of this happening!!

    Per usual.

Take any RW claim - especially one the usual suspects gather to congratulate each other over - add about 5 min. of critical analysis... and "wallah!" ... bug-be-gone.

They do the same thing with their denial fetish over global oil depletion. But their assertions never pass the sniff test. Time and time and time and time again.

    Fail.

Problem is most of us don't seem to matter ... the agenda is still there especially at the U.N.
I have no problem with green, alternative technologies, keep the planet clean ... no problem at all. Just wish it was based on realities instead of robbery.

The skeptics look at either extremely long periods of time or extremely short periods of time. Those who believe in manmade global warming focus on the period from the early industrial revolution to the present and compare it with other similar periods. They argue that if we've seen a rapid spike (compared to similar periods) since humankind began pumping pollutants into the air, then maybe the pollutants are causing some serious damage. As the charts posted by PFinVA show there is clearly a trend towards warmer temperatures. That said, it's expected that as the Arctic melts, we will some odd weather patterns, and I believe that's the reason those who believe in the harm of pollution now use the term climate change. There will be areas that experience cooler temps, but the overall trend is towards warmer.
